These cabinets by the lineside contain lubricant that's used to reduce flange wear on the wheels of trains that pass over them.
Also it helps reduce excessive track wear, corrosion & cuts down rail noise levels.
Stopped alongside the track looking for today's photograph. The lens is at its widest, but the depth of field is still very narrow. The front of the nearest sleeper is in focus, but the nail at the back is not. The camera is held just above the ground.

The Track follows quite closely to the Monbulk Road and passes through Kay’s, Olympic and Kensley’s picnic grounds.
This railway line is the narrow gauge track that runs from Portmadoc to Beddgelert in North Wales, it has only just been completed.
The Mountain range seen in the distance on the right, are the Moelwyns , and Cnicht on the left, Cnicht mountain is referred to as the "Matterhorn of Wales" and its cone-shaped profile seen from the south is similar to the Matterhorn as seen on the approach to Zermatt.
This odd railcar is the DOTX219, which computes track geometry parameters at speeds of up to 125 miles per hour, according to atip.fra.dot.gov/public/about/DOTX_219.pdf. Ye gads. We spotted it yesterday above Interstate 20 east of Birmingham, AL. It wasn't being pulled at 125 mph, but it was moving right along.

It was a really cold day in NYC waiting for the subway at this outdoor station with snow covered tracks.
My sister-in-law went on a little field trip last night around our local downtown and practiced again shooting in manual.
It was a tad bit cold, but fun - I'm anxious to go again now.
The only thing I did to this set of photos was run hard light on them.
I'm at a loss for words with this portrait of our cat Sissy.
She's tracking a squirrel through the sun room window.
Intense.
Karen loves the color of both of our cats eyes, and misses the lovely shade ofamber-green in this portrait, but I'm not about to do selective color, ever.
The tone and texture of her fur really shows here. Smokey is one beautiful feline.
Cats are fascinating.
Am guessing coyote (fox tracks are a little broader according to web photos). The bird I don't know. The person was perhaps wading before tide went out. W end Caddy Park, Black's Creek, Quincy, MA 7/10/21
