Simsbury vs Southington track & field on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Southington High School.

Looking east, inbound, down the BNSF tracks at Home Avenue in Berwyn, Illinois

The fog always seems to stack up in the train yard across from work just before it gets light. I finally took a few shots, and I liked how the B&W came out. Looks better in large. Pasco, WA 02DEC08 (Apparently this made Explore on 02DEC08 #457)

from the farmer last summer. No snow here. WOW!! We went in searchof Snowy Owls and found nothing but Magpies so photgraphed the landscape on the way home.

Asker, Norway. For the first time in years, a proper pre-christmas winter. Although the golf course is our neighbour, we mostly use it when its covered in snow. When its great for children and playfullness.

Shot as a RAW file and processed first in Adobe Camera Raw, then in Photoshop.

I started thinking about building Track Pans recently for use on our club's train layouts. A steam heavy RR like the PennLUG needs to get it's water from somewhere and with my PRR steam fleet and Nate being suduced by the New York Central (two big users of pans) they just seem right for us. So I spent the better part of my Saturday researching Pennsylvania RR style track pans (fortunately I have a few books on the Pennsy) and then did my best to translate into LEGO.

This isn't perfect but should still be a good representation of Pennsylvania RR style practice. The pans themselves were pretty narrow (only about 19inches) so I wanted to keep mine to 2 studs wide. Along each side of the track for the length of the pans the Pennsy would typically have cobble stone lined runoff channels to manage spillage and keep erosion of the roadbed to a minimum. A locomotive moving at speed while scooping could throw up a lot of water.

Actual track pans would be quite a bit longer than this (and when PennLUG eventually builds ours they will be) but this should give some idea of what I'm going for.

Now I need to design a pump house for the water pumps and to provide steam heat to keep the pans from freezing in winter.

House: How many friends do you have?

Lucas Douglas: Seventeen.

House: Seriously? Do you keep a list or something?

Lucas Douglas: No, I knew this conversation was really about you, so I gave you an answer so you could get back to your train of thought...

Old Aging C.B. Kirk grain elevator is crumbling near the train tracks north of Mansfield in central Illinois.

Went to reboot an iPad. Beh, 2nd one that needed a restore within one month! 2nd one I could not restore through my comp...! Anyhow, we had to wait around for the appointment (busy Saturday), so we went to see what's around. This was very crowded. I have a bunch of shots of trams, crowds, reflections on the trams... but it is all centered around the fact that in order to cross a bridge, trams going both ways, need to use the one track.. so I chose this image.
