Up at the Yankee Ridge overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Cool railroad tracks in the middle of nowhere. I keep saying I'll be back but things are busy. I really miss all my friends!
My first time using an Instax Mini - will post a photo of the camera soon, with some details and info, but with this post I want to explain the framing of it here. If you put any shiny instant photo on scanner glass, you get newton rings. Researching the problem online, I saw some clever people were using the spent film holder to aid in scanning, so that's what I'm showing here. What I saw online was being done with Polaroid, so it works for that also - I just did something similar with the Fujifilm stuff. I had to remove the back of the holder so I can drop the print in face down, then set it on the scanner glass face down. I found something laying around that was just the right size to set on top of it to help press the photo down in the makeshift holder (so it's as close to the glass as possible without touching it). Anyway, so this is what the scanner sees. The only bummer is you lose most of the nice white boarder, but that could be recreated in your photo editing software. I don't plan to post photos in this frame, just wanted folks to see what I did here to get a good scan free of newton rings.

Popped out to a local field yesterday for sunset to photograph the barley. It's fascinating to stand at the edge of the field watching the crop moving in the wind, trying to capture those textures and patterns.

325012, heads south at Cathiron, running Warrington Royal Mail(Dbs) to Willesden Prdc.
To me, these mail workings are always something special to see, and I'm also pleased that parcels and letters still move by rail.
