Otherwise used as an unofficial BMX track, this huge mound of earth at Hemington proved to be a very useful vantage point in a predominantly flat landscape. I waited patiently for the drifting mist to reveal the sun’s orb, the detail of which I held in place with the use of a combination of neutral density graduated filters.
Yay - we made it up to McKinnon's Pass.

Went for a hike in the White Mountains of NH to see Arethusa falls. Wasn't a great day weather wise but it was still a good time. These tracks run along Frankenstein Cliffs, and as much as we wanted to see where they led there wasn't enough daylight left to make the trek. An adventure for another day!
On our track westwards on the F910 Austurleið we made a short detour at a signpost "Svartá".
On this track we had to cross a section of deep and impressive back ash. It looks and feels like sand but in fact it is ash from volcanic eruptions in this area.
Between August 2014 and February 2015 a series of fissure eruptions formed the new Holohraun lava field that covers an area of 85 km² with a volume of 1,4 km³. This is one of the largest lava fields in Island.
If you follow the track to the end there is a good starting point to visit the Holurhaun lava field, the Jökulsá á Fjöllum river and the Skínandi waterfall.
This intersection of the train tracks and highway always seems interesting to me.
This was taken on a somewhat cloudy gloomy evening, but a few moments later the sky actually did light up with just a touch of color.
The tractor tracks decend down into the valley and up the other side , I don`t know what the crop is that is growing here but i`ll be following it until it is cut later in the summer .
