I was out for a ski today, and saw these tracks. They reminded me of the game "Fox and Geese" that we used to play on the playground. I don't know if anyone else remembers this game, but I think it's a thing of the past.

A couple of misty mornings in Cheshire in the early Autumn, so decided to head out to Delamere Forest.
I really loved the way the rail lines vanished into the either. There is a really straight bit of track here, this image is shot from a bridge in the forest, looking towards Delamere Station (I guess it could be anywhere!), but it's shrouded in mist.

(106/366) We took Poppy for a walk around a local lake & Martin spotted several deer hoofprints in the soft mud. I've seen deer locally from a distance (I think they are Roe deer) and so have our neighbours. Happy Textural Tuesday!
Last night I waved good-bye to the beautiful Rho Ophiuchus star and nebulae complex at the lower right of the Milky Way in this frame. After this week, Rho will move down to a place too low in the sky to be photographed until next March. This is one of my favourite celestial objects in the night sky.
Some personal news...
After giving up astrophotography last February because it was so hard on my physical health and selling the main pieces of my astro equipment, I have spent the last 6 months realizing just how much I miss this hobby, and how much I miss being out there with my two astro-buddies Doug and Wade chasing the stars.
A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to buy back from a friend the little Star Adventurer tracking mount that I sold last year to help finance my bigger mount... so I bought it! Although I won't be doing astrophography at nearly the level or intensity I once did, I will at least be able to dabble a little like I did last night! Easy peasy and lots of fun!

A nice little scene with ivy-ranked trees in my local forest. The bending road caught my eye as the scene was flooded with golden light of the setting sun. By the time this photo was edited, the scene had already turned into green.

Cockpit of an unidentified Grumman S-2 Tracker, near Vacaville, California in February 1998.
Scanned 35mm color negative.
Would have, could have, should have... but at least I made this photo. This cockpit and all of the other aircraft parts on that property were scrapped when the property was sold in the late 2000s.

The volcanic eruption on Fimmvörðuháls in Iceland has coverered the surface of the glacier with ash. People walking, driving and snow mobiling to and from the eruption make their own roads and tracks, revealing the colour of snow through the ash.
The people in the photograph are hiking a 30km trek through the highlands of Iceland to get a glimpse of nature at it´s most brutal and raw.
