an unremarkable cheshire farm track at first sight--but this delamere footpath is in an area rich in history
less than a mile behind the camera are the grassy ramparts of the hillfort at eddisbury and between the small ridge at left and the forested high ground is a shallow valley known as seven lows due to the presence of seven prehistoric burial mounds , mostly now difficult to locate , with the exception of those planted with clumps of trees
and the track itself is thought to have been once upon a time on the site an early course of watling street, the roman road linking chester and manchester via nothwich
What I believe are rabbit tracks along the coast north of Rumoi, Hokkaido, Japan. If you know with certainty, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks for taking a look.

From the archives - August 2011 on a foggy morning along the tracks in Hudsonville. The cool looking power lines on the right hand side have been since removed.

Grumman S-2 (S2F) Trackers, Tucson, Arizona.
If airplanes could talk imagine the stories these Trackers could tell. Thousands of hours flying over the oceans of the world, exotic ports of call. All this history largely lost to time.
Otherwise used as an unofficial BMX track, this huge mound of earth at Hemington proved to be a very useful vantage point in a predominantly flat landscape. I waited patiently for the drifting mist to reveal the sun’s orb, the detail of which I held in place with the use of a combination of neutral density graduated filters.
Yay - we made it up to McKinnon's Pass.

i decided to add queen anne's lace to my wildflower garden. so i took a bucket and shovel to the nearest railroad. (isn't it interesting how this flower grows around all train tracks?). as i put shovel to ground, an older man walked toward me.
him: what are you doing?
me: digging up queen anne's lace for my garden.
him: you can't do that!
me: oh, is there an ordinance against this?
him: no, but that thing is a weed. you don't want it. it'll grow up all over your yard.
me: well, i think it's pretty.
him: fine, do whatever you want.
i think human perceptions are interesting. what's a flower versus a weed? what is beauty? what is kindness? we hold many different views. each day i see or learn something new.
