Track day at Road Atlanta. Street cars welcome, as long as they pass safety requirements. Trailer cars also welcome. Drivers are grouped by experience. Instructors accompany novice drivers. Passing is by hand signs on straights, for novices. Higher classes allow more Leigh way. All drivers wear helmets and must be secure in the seat by lap and shoulder belts. In these pictures are everyday driver cars to high winged super charged race cars.
The Otis Job enters Otis AFB territory at the North Falmouth bike path entrance, with multiple MoW veilichles on the siding. Word has that 25,000 ties will be replaced on this branch to scrap the aging rail equipment already existing.
At the next grade crossing down, I got this down the tracks view of the grain train sitting on the former Peoria, Decatur & Evansville line between Mattoon, Ill., and Evansville, Ind. In the background is the elevator at Jones. The former Illinois Central branch line has been abandoned just beyond the elevator complex.
Thief River Falls-native Paul Storhaug cruises behind the Northern Plains' westbound train out of Thief River Falls inspecting the track. Paul started his career in the 90's at the Soo Line and migrated over to the Northern Plains Railroad in the early 2000's. He has undoubtedly been across these rails many times during his career working for both railroads. This portion of the railroad is virtually unchanged from Soo Line days with original jointed rail and ballast.

I wanted to go right down but was defeated by a stile I couldn't get over. I'm 87! The area was more user friendly when I was a boy.

The Bayham track in the garden of Scotney castle, is possibly of medieval origin. It may have been worn away by herds of pigs being driven from nearby Bayham Abbey in search of food or to market.
