Today we spent 2-8 at my sister's track meet and it was the most exhausting, boring thing ever. And normally, I'm never ever bored. So that's saying something. Anyway she placed 4th in both of her races (1 mile followed by a 2 mile - yikes!) and beat her personal best in the mile at 6:02 but claims she did awful in the 2 mile (which we didn't stay for)
After arriving home from that, I derped around online a bit, then watched My Sister's Keeper, yet another jerk-all-my-feels movie.

I am reading in Mark currently. I hate myself for my awful memory, but I am in Mark. I read last night/this morning in chapter 8, of Jesus feeding four thousand and the stories that follow. What I like about this chapter is, after He feeds the people, Him and His disciples are getting ready to go and the pharisees are all like, Show us a sign, or whatever, and Jesus gets all sassy: "And He sighed deeply in His spirit and said, 'Why does this generation need a sign? Truly, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.'" and then He just leaves them and sails away on a boat and all I can picture, while He's speaking, is His chest heaving with the burden of these morons and holding up His arms while standing in the boat like, Y U NO UNDERSTAND, and the disciples slowly start to row the boat away from shore.

Really enjoyed a great walk on a lovely day and being around the rowarth area again was a nice change of scenery.
The Crossroads Village carousel, dressed for Christmas. I tried again and again to take a tracking shot by walking alongside it, but it is fast and I don't have much practice doing that yet.

Wooden ties are being replaced at the double crossover track near the St. Petersburg ACL depot on April 24, 1951. The local newspaper reported that, after all the talk about forcing the ACL to move the depot out of downtown, folks seeing this activity thought the tracks were going to be permanently removed! We now know that wouldn't happen for another dozen years. The crews lifted the rails just long enough to replace the ties beneath them. St. Petersburg Times photo
A bit of history was uncovered during the improvement of U.S. 40 (National Road) on Richmond, Indiana's west side. These tracks were likely part of the Interurban line that ran along the National Road between Richmond and Indianapolis. They will be removed as part of improvement project.
This is the tamper Plasser & Theurer Stopfexpress 09-3X. Top performance, precision and reliability are everyday demands placed on modern maintenance machinery. In rail construction, Plasser & Theuerer has developed an asynchronous balanced-pressure tamping system for tamping at a frequency of 35 Hz that assures precise geometric positioning of the tracks and the efficient manufacture of tie supports. The Stopfexpress 09-3X three-tie tamping machine works more uniformly by processing a longer length of rail per tamping cycle. It is also 40 percent faster than the previously fastest machines. So now you know that.
