Years ago horses would have drawn barges along this canal near the centre of Northampton. Nowadays in summer motorised boats use it for recreation.

Taken during a walk on the towpath along the canal from todmorden to Hebden Bridge.

We started Brenda's birthday ride on the C and O towpath. We are at a National Park Service site in Sharpsburg MD, just across the bridge from Shepardstown WV. The Bavarian Inn is in the far background.
