July 21, 2009 total solar eclipse near second contact with diamond ring as totality is about to begin. Taken from Northern Cook Islands, on board m/s Paul Gauguin. Taken with Canon 20Da and 28-105mm lens at 60mm and f/9 and ISO 100.

Total Eclipse of the Moon 8-29-07

I wanted to capture the entire umbral stage in 5 minute intervals. Alas, my 18-200mm Nikkor wasn't really up to the task, particularly while the moon was under greatest eclipse.

I also converted the images into an animated GIF.

The January 20/21 total lunar eclipse, blood moon in progress. My camera clock was off by 1 hour, 0 minutes and 50 seconds, so this image is actually taken at roughly an hour and a minute earlier than EXIF states.

A cool thing about this eclipse was that a Meteor hit the Blood Moon at exactly 11:41:10 (Reports differ, but it is 11:41: something.)

Now, with FOGGY VIDEO!

Set up for my usual wide-angle time lapse, but it was undone by a serious problem with condensation on my lens. Haven't camped with camera at an alpine lake before... Guess I should have brought pocket warmers to strap to my lens.

I took these pictures of the lunar eclipse 08/28/2007. Taken with a Nikon D80, 300mm lens, on a tripod.

When I took them the green orb was not visible to me. The camera doesn't lie. These photos are untouched, other than reduced.

The photos are in order taken. Notice that in most of the photos the orb moves, however in the 6th photo the orb is not even visible,

but is in the 7th and 8th. I have a total of 30 photos. Each photo is taken only seconds apart.

Any thoughts as to what it is?

red moon - eclipse, Sydney, Australia. 1am 11 December 2011

Dim daylight returns to North Texas as the sun begins to peek around the moon. The two Black-bellied Whistling-Ducks at the center of the image, are mostly a crepuscular and nocturnal species. They flew in and alighted on the creek at full totality. They hung around for a few minutes then flew back to their daytime roost as the sky brightened.

The brighter part of the moon as the eclipse was almost complete. Of course this phenomenon had to happen on one of the coldest nights of the year... made for some clear sky shots though :)
