Total eclipse of the super moon.

How much love is too much?

Blood moon, composing :-))

The totally eclipsed Beaver Moon with Uranus (at the lower left of the moon) and some starlets in Aries. Uranus was also going to be eclipsed by the moon shortly.

Taken at 11:19 UT on November 8, 2022. Moon Age: 14.1. Handheld. 1.5x crop.

BA flight landing on San Diego while SuperBlood Moon during Eclipse

Had to try and catch a shot of yesterday morning's eclipse since the next one will be in 2025. Without a long telephoto lens, I used my 18-135mm (aps-c 202mm equivalent) and cropped the image. The image was taken at 5:34 am EST during totality. The reddish coloration is from the sunshine passing through the earth's atmosphere before illuminating the moon.

This amazing eclipse was captured seven minutes past the Total Eclipse on May 15, 2022.

In our city of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the total eclipse happened at 11:11 pm, and this was captured at 11:18 pm.

This was May 2022's full moon which is called the Flower Moon.

It was also a Supermoon, which is when the Moon’s orbit is closest to Earth at the same time the Moon is full.

It is also called a Blood Moon due to the red color seen during the eclipse. Why red? It is because the eclipse causes the shadow cast by the Earth to land on the Moon's typically ivory surface. The reason the Moon turns the amber color is because red is the only color with a light wavelength long enough to “get around” the Earth.

I should have used my tripod for this capture, but instead I placed my camera and lens on my car roof, angling it just right and giving me a steady capture.

I'm not sure what the two bright bodies are above and below the moon, whether stars or planets. If you know, please inform me in the comment section- I would love to know :)

Enjoy!

P1130731c - Total Lunar Eclipse on January 21, 2019

Not a fabulous shot, but it's the one I got! (clouds covered the start and end of the eclipse). I decided I like the moon when there's the very tiny sliver of white light on the edge of the moon, just before total eclipse.

This is the best shot I was able to get of the sun's corona during the total eclipse.

The Baily's beads[...] effect [are] features of total and annular solar eclipses [...] are distinct events during these types of solar eclipses. I guess most of the people in Bavaria watched the wonderful total moon eclipse yesterday night - so did I. I did not leave the location to chance and so I already visited some possible locations the night before to make sure that the lunar track fits to my foreground - in this case the tower of St. Christopher...

The village consists of several houses as well as around 1400 AD newly built curate St. Christopher - and almost no light pollution…it was about 9:15pm when the moon suddenly appeared...

I was in Sparta, TN yesterday for the total solar eclipse. It was a truly amazing experience.

As the sun re-emerged from behind the moon, I was able to captured a bunch of flare in this shot. I figured I'd post this first since you all have probably seen images like the rest of my shots before, taken by better photographers. :) Maybe this one's a little different. (JJ Abrams would be proud!)

I hope all my American friends were able to at least see some of the partial eclipse if you weren't fortunate enough to be in the path of totality.

Thanks for looking! :)

... Super Blood Wolf Moon - During a total lunar eclipse, Earth completely blocks direct sunlight from reaching the Moon. The only light reflected from the lunar surface has been refracted by Earth's atmosphere. This light appears reddish for the same reason that a sunset or sunrise does: the Rayleigh scattering of bluer light. Due to this reddish color, a totally eclipsed Moon is sometimes called a blood moon.

While in our Solar system, a total eclipse like the Great North American Eclipse of April 8 is an extremely rare sensation, it is a way more frequent (regular, even) occurrence in the Egglar system. There, a total eclipse often can be seen every Sunday morning. Sometimes, these total eclipses even happen twice or more times a week.

Since in Germany, the April eclipse wasn't even visible as a partial eclipse, and the next total eclipse, visible only in Southern Germany, will happen in... 2081 (and Northern Germany? 2135!), I can safely say I won't see either. So I decided to create my very own eclipse for "Egg".

For the sun, I used a whole uncooked egg, backlit by an LED lamp placed right behind it. A smaller, cracked piece of eggshell served as the moon. At first, I had put a smaller egg in front of the "sun", but the round edges were too soft to create this nicely defined shape the moon had in the real eclipse. The cracks in the smaller piece of eggshell also helped in making the "moon's" upper edge better visible in the image because they caught on/let through a little bit of the backlight.

To achieve a good sharpness and definition on both the sun and the moon I had to do focus stacking/bracketing. The in-camera focus stacking didn't work that well with this rather difficult setup, so I did focus bracketing instead. When the camera is set on focus bracketing, one can technically take up to 999 single images. Which I thought was a slight stacking overkill, so I made do with 99 images of which I used about 40 which I combined in Helicon Focus (A, R8, S1).

Size info: The part of the whole egg that is visible in the frame is 4,5 cm/1,77 inches.

HMM, Everyone, and have a nice week ahead!

As the sun begins to emerge to view from behind the moon, a "diamond ring" appears.

Phases of the total moon eclipse (July 27-28, 2018) during the second part of the phenomenon. Photos were stacked with StarStax.

Tomorrow it will be a year since I stood in the totality of the 2024 solar eclipse. I posted the "diamond ring" capture last year and was thrilled that NASA put it in their Flickr gallery. I know eclipse images can get boring quickly, but I decided to post one more, this one totality, to remind all of the people who got to see the total eclipse last year of that breathtaking couple of minutes..

Besides it gives me an excuse to be cliche with Bonnie Tyler's version of this Jim Steinman song. Everything about this song perfectly encapsulates '80s pop. Just the vocals here, when I listen to music I usually don't care for visuals, unless I am at a live concert.

Just past totality. Still, just barely possible to look at it with the naked eye. No filter used. I believe the speck of white just left of the sun is Venus. I could be wrong. Forty Five minutes Southwest of St. Louis, Missouri. Thank you!

This was the moment I had looked forward to for 7 years. The sun's corona during solar maximum left a spicy, electric display dazzling in the sky with a black hole where the sun once appeared. I love the detail in this image showing the electric field lines and the solar prominences, but if you were there to see it in person, you know that pictures don't do it justice.

I admit it was a lot more fun watching the eclipse than I first thought, and yes, I even played "Total Eclipse of the Heart" because I'm so funny :)

I kept moving around on the peninsula out to Lions Lighthouse to try to keep the Moon above it during the total eclipse. I stacked 29 exposures for the sky for this shot to try to bring out more of the stars from all the light pollution. This is from 21:37 PDT.

Speyside Wildlife: Yellowstone and Grand Teton Eclipse Trip August 2017.

Watching the eclipse was a very special experience. The organisation was brilliant with plenty of parking along the road interspersed with port-a-loos at regular intervals. Once we were up on the hills above the road there was plenty of room and not at all crowded.

On October 14 an annular eclipse of the moon could be seen in Capitol Reef National Park, Utah.

The previous night the temperature had dropped to 24 F, so the warming light shown here was welcome. From start to finish the eclipse was more than two hours, but the full eclipse lasted 2 to 4 minutes in this region.

The temperature dropped noticeably during the eclipse--Cory Repennhagen, a weatherman in Denver, measured a 10 F drop in Denver, and that was outside of the zone of full eclipse. Direct sunlight really makes a difference!

This full eclipse occurred when the moon was in the portion of its orbit most distant from earth, so the moon was unable to completely cover the sun. This form of eclipse is annular, while colloquially it is referred to as a ring of fire.

Thin cirrus clouds were moving overhead and they are the reason for the various shades of white and grey seen in the various images of the sun.
