Since Win has gone Nana is getting bolder and bolder. Big Win was definitely Queen Bee in the household. Nana always used to scurry around keeping hidden but lately she is putting herself on show more and more. Sitting on the bed post is her newest trick

Dora is always happy to cuddle with me.

Here she's waiting for me to put the camera down and invite her up onto my lap for some lovin'......that is as long as her brothers aren't already on my lap.

Dora does not share the limelight! It's always all about her!

.looking out the window the other day and I see Dora jetting across the side yard with Raven close on her heels!

By the time I grabbed my camera and got outside, Raven had chased Dora up into one of the fir trees in the side yard!

I think they were just playing, (well, at least Raven was!), and Dora ended up going up the tree just a little further than she intended!

This would not have been a problem for one of my more nimble guys like Floydd or Simon, but it took the less coordinated Dora about 20 minutes and some major coaxing from me to get her to back down!

Many thanks to everyone who takes the time to comment or faves my pictures. It is very much appreciated.

Stella poses nicely with the welcome sign in the front window.

Title: Mistocles (SOOC)

Notes: This was a weird week. Just after Thanksgiving Weekend and traveling to family, we had a family emergency which ended up miraculously well in the end. The events are unrelated to my photo choice, except by their affect on my week and state of mind, which was decidedly distracted. And we did not go out anywhere either, so I was left with ver local subjects ;-). The result is this photo of our kitty, Misty aka Mistocles (and other variations). This is the SOOC shot before editing.

One has to be quick with the camera to catch a picture of her. She doesn't lay around for very long before she's off and playing again.

I love my old wooden floors, but at this time of year it's really a pain trying to keep them clean.

Every time somebody comes in the door, they're dragging snowmelt or salt in, which they then track all over the house! (like anybody would actually think to wipe their feet!)

Oh well! I've always thought that having a clean house was overrated!

frieda did a rather inelegant lack of balancing right after i snapped this photo, but isn't she cute here with the tip of her tail in focus?

Japanese love museums! You can find hundreds of museums throughout Japan dedicated to showing a vast array of historical or modern objects, people and events of cultural significance and insignificance!

Many museums are quite small and their hours are erratic. Here is a small list of the more quirky museums you will find in Japan:

Cup Noodles Museum - pictured above (displays cup noodles from their humble beginnings up to the modern era)

Alloy Casting Museum - moulds and panels on display

Battledore Museum - predecessor to Badmington (hagoita) displaying pre war bats

Dry Wood Museum

Rubber Baseball Museum - history of rubber baseball, bats and gloves

Safe and Key Museum - unlocks history of safes

Tortoiseshell Museum - no need to rush through this one

Japanese Stationery Museum - something to write home about

Eyeglass Museum - a 6,000 piece collection - enough to make you go blind

Parasite Museum - they even have a gift shop

Tobacco and Salt Museum - I have actually visited this one and enjoyed it!

Banknote and Postage Museum - displays money and stamps from around the world

Fire Museum - traces history of fire fighting - this one is hot!

Japan Toy Museum - 8,000 toys on display - kids allowed

Toy Museum - crafts oriented toys

Drum Museum (Taiko-kan) - hard to beat

John Lennon Museum - Imagine that (now closed)

Beer Museum - (Yebisu Beer) visited this one twice

Clock Museum - dozens of clocks will remind you that closing time is 4:00pm (run by the Japanese Clock Preservation Society-who else?)

Bags and Luggage Museum - I visited this one (it was a quiet day!)

Folding Screen Museum - no ticket no peeking

Sumo Photograph Museum - wide angle heaven

Socks Museum - Tabi are traditional Japanese socks

Subway Museum - The Subway Museum is devoted to Tokyo's subways (how low can you get?)

Fishcake (Kamaboko) Museum - in Odawara (near Hakone)

I came up the steps the other morning and there was Dora posing perfectly on the windowsill at the top of the steps.

I ran back down to get my camera and was glad to see she hadn't budged an inch while I was gone.

The sun is shining bright, the temperatures are rising, the snow is disappearing! Yep! I think spring might be just around the corner. 8-))

Dora spies a stinkbug crawling on the ceiling.

Ada is a small cat but her stare is pretty intimidating. You can find more of her at Ada Lovelace

Dora was only slightly more cooperative than Leo....lol!

I applied a one-of-a-kind, image-specific framing device to the photo and then designed the combo into a poster format. You COULD call it double framing, but I like to think of it as framing enhancement. Or adding a framing dimension.

I'd finish the projects as a print with one of my special beveled glass mounts... either the framed image alone or the all-inclusive poster. Another option would be non-glare glass with small, nearly invisible, mounting clips. Martha's image is worthy of a gallery-style display.

Sometimes you just have to take the high ground, get right up in the face, and straighten things out. Confrontation. It's natural. We have to know who is Top Kat just like we have to know who is top dog, top banana, and tall hog.

So I have been saving photos under progressive format but I think I should have been saving them under baseline optimized. What format do you guys save your photos as?

Maggie is Foz's sister; they were born in the same litter. She wears a pastel calico tortoiseshell coat and is a true princess. Cats of this color are believed to bring good luck and here in the U.S.A. they are referred to as money cats. Her favorite color is pink; which goes along with that pink nose and her pink toes. Straight out of the camera with no post processing.

Ozzy and Ember about to snooze in the cat tree

Taking a break from playing. We're going with Ember for her name.

On the fifth day after his arrival, Ember realized the new guy wasn't so much of threat and that she had a playmate instead.

My first and favoritest, yin yang, now about 10 years old.....with many more to come.

Want to make something of it!!

Somebody asked me if the cats will attack the computer screen when watching the bird videos.

YES!

The entire time I'm taking pictures I am pushing them away and am ready to thwart any sudden jump at the screen.

here's a little Nat King Cole for you all!

Ember has quickly learned that my husband and the recliner make for a comfy place to snooze.

These pictures include various parts and configurations of our new Bulbdial Clock kit. These photos are meant to accompany a blog post about it here.
