I found Dora sitting in her favorite spot in the window box on the sunny, south side of the house.the other day and warned her that it was probably the last time for at least a couple of days that she'd want to be sitting out there.

I was right. Since the temperature has taken a nosedive she has been curled up in a ball on the dining room radiator!

Today's is my Bella's Gotcha Day. :) Nine years ago today we adopted her at the age of two.

There were several of these flying around the yard, but the only place they seemed to land was in the bad light under our porch. This one is huddled up against a drainpipe. They are a common and beautiful sight in late summer/ early autumn in the Mt. Shasta, California area

after several tense minutes between Pearl and Dora, Dora decided to chill out and Pearl was finally able to settle onto the other cushion of the loveseat, and everyone went back to sleep.

As anyone who owns a cat knows, if the door is shut, then for sure, the cat will want to be on the opposite side!

It's in the Cat Rule Book!

This rule also applies to windows.

Dora is sitting in the window box outside. She could very easily jump down and trot around the corner of the house and come in the cat door, but NOOOOOOOO!

She will sit there and yell her fuzzy butt off, until I get up and open the window.

Thank you to all those who Favorite and comment its very much appreciated.

Looking for something to get into.

Larry was going over some of the house specs and making notes for the electricians.

He made sure that Stella approved his ideas.

I haven't posted a picture of my girl Stella for awhile.

She's doing well.

Now that the warm weather has rolled around and I've been able to open up the diningroom window so she can step in and out, she's been a pretty happy camper.

Ruby attempting to nosh on a plant.

Enjoying the overgrown backyard before it was mowed. :)

Bella is an indoor cat, but when the weather is nice she likes to explore the backyard for short, supervised periods. :)

I just realized that this is my first outdoor photoshoot of her!

Stella takes an afternoon siesta on the sunny windowsill.

My new friend I made at a mate's bbq!

On cold days, there's lot's of squabbling among the cats for the prime napping spots

You can add "REFEREE" to my resume!

Dora has a new hobby.

Butterfly hunting!

Dora waits for Santa Claws to come down the chimney and bring her lots of kitty presents!

Larry and Dora having "a moment".

lol....okay...I know it's wrong, but it's funny!!

Happy Halloween!

Dora cracks me up.

She doesn't come on Kitty Walks too often, but when she decides to tag along the dynamics of the walk completely change.

When Dora is along, we have to play by her rules.

Rule #1: nobody can walk near her.........or she will bat at them and hiss.

Rule #2: No touching her......or she will bat at you and hiss.

Rule #3: She can chase anyone she wants, but they may not chase her back.....or she will bat at them and hiss.

Rule #4: Nobody can sit on a log or fallen tree if she is on it......or she will chase you off, bat at you, and hiss!

Other than that, she gets along with everybody just fine!

Literally!

I spent yesterday unpacking the Snow Village and getting everything lit.

I came downstairs this a.m. and Stella was playing Godzilla Kitty!

Today, I'll finish things up by putting all the accessories and people into the scene, and then hopefully when Stella sees there isn't any room for her anymore, she'll stay off of there!

(I wouldn't bet money on it though! 8-/)

....I'd smash every one of your annoying decorations!"

Stella is more than a little annoyed that I've moved things around and am hammering and making noise during what would usually be her early afternoon nap session (which comes right after her late morning nap session).

I spent yesterday putting up the Christmas Village, some of which goes on the shelves right over the drysink where she sleeps with the frogs.

Dora is usually Larry's lap cat anytime he settles on the couch, and she's not too pleased that Floydd has beat her to the coveted spot.

Floydd says, "Snooze ya loose Dora!"

When Larry settles in to read the paper after dinner, his two most devoted furry friends are always close by.

Dora took a real shine to a blue, squeaky fuzzy abominable snowman Santa left for Pearl.

it must have been Dora's turn to watch me!

It's with a heavy heart I tell you that our sweet Stella quietly passed away last night.

She came to live with us in the summer of 2007.

She staggered onto a job site our son Lance was working at, starving, dehydrated, flea bitten and very pregnant.

According to Lance, she literally fell down in front of him.

When he offered her water she drank an entire bottle.

He brought her back to the farm and we slowly nursed her back to health. She was suffering from extreme malnutrition and as a result, lost the kittens, but with love, a lot of food and a safe place to live, she bloomed into a lovely girl..

She was always quiet and unassuming, but had a very charming personality, especially when the other cats weren't around.

I always felt a bit bad about that....she would have been a great "only" cat.

She was always "low man on the totem pole" in the pecking order around here.

But we always did our best to protect her and make sure she was okay.

We figure she was about 16 yrs. old.

Rest in peace my sweet girl.

I'll miss your face peering out at me from the dry sink, or seeing you sprawled out on the dining room windowsill in the sunshine.

You're forever in my heart.

Stella is actually named after an old Grateful Dead song, Stella Blue.

Lance named her when he brought her home, years ago.

"Dora investigates a bell on the end of a Santa hat.

Raven loves wearing her warm fleece blanket coat during these cold winter days.

Dora has discovered that settling down on top of a nice warm big black dog wrapped in polar fleece is a great place to snuggle down and take a nap.

Dora thinks that the best thing about us finally moving back into the house is that her personal "Wait Staff" will be back on duty full time!

In my holiday shopping travels I happened upon this nutcracker. LOL....it was destiny!

I've named her Carla.....the Crazy Cat Lady!

I think she's FABULOUS!

Some of you might remember that the entire 2nd floor of my house is decorated totally in a Christmas Cat theme for the holidays.

Carla will make a delightful addition to my collection!

While I was unpacking the car I set her on the front porch where Dora immediately had to check her out.

During the summertime we'll open the screen in the diningroom window so that Dora can lay out in the window box. (I stopped trying to grow anything there years ago, it's such a popular spot for the cats!). She spends a good part of the day laying out there. She can watch the birds flying in and out of the ivy on the side of the house, see everything going on in the yard and still keep an eye on the activity inside.

The trumpet vine on the trellis on the side of my house has gone crazy this summer and is encroaching on my view out the window.

I have SO much yard work to do when I get back home!

Dora offers gardening advice, as I try to decide where to dig in some new perennials.

I decided to go back into the files and find some kitten pictures to post in honer of KITTEN BOWL day! 8-)

I had such a fun time going back over Ozzie, Vinny and Dora's baby pictures. I forgot just how cute they were!

I posted a few more pics...one of each of them from way back then.

Have a fun Super Bowl Sunday everyone!

PLEASE! DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!!!

I'll let you look at Dora's expression and fill in the missing word yourself!

While rummaging through the coat closet looking for a pair of gloves I came across this holiday headband with faux mistletoe hanging from a candy cane I bought last year after the holiday was over. I forgot about it until it fell off the shelf from behind the box of scarves and gloves.

I know it's a little early in the game, but I couldn't resist trying it out on the first "victim" I came across, which happened to be Dora.

More holiday hat fun to come, once I get the collection of hats out of the garage with the rest of the holiday decorations.

Dora says Happy St. Patrick's Day.....now get this the hell off of me!

LOL....I tried like the dickens this morning to get a cat.....ANY cat, to pose with the leprechaun hat. Not surprisingly, I couldn't find one that was willing to get into the spirit of the photoshoot and pose for a festive picture.

Dora here was about as close as I could get!

When all else fails.......talk to the dog!

(see the previous post!)

Sunbathing in the living room window! Pris will be three in March. My beautiful Tortie Princess, she has become a different cat in our new home! Gone is the perpetual cranky pants cat, she is oh, so much happier. Pris has always been deeply affectionate to me but now this extends to the other cats. They are relieved & so am I!

I'm keeping a close eye on Dora.

I noticed that she was limping the other day.

She is SUCH a porker, and she's not at all coordinated for a cat. I suspect she either missed a jump, or jammed something when she jumped off of it.

The limp seems like it's going away now, and it certainly hasn't hindered her daily routine.

She was pretty "nipped up" here, and she was knocking that little piece of fake greenery all over the livingroom.
