After her disagreement with Simon over the blanket, Dora decided she'd share.

Simon seemed grateful that she had changed her mind, and treated her to a good ear washing as a way to say thank you.

Picture #1 of Dora's Ornery Day.

Dora sees Raven coming across the yard and goes into her classic "Halloween Cat" pose.

Every time I happened to spot Dora the other day, she was busy giving somebody "The Business!"

Dora is rather small. Half of what you see is fur, but what she lacks in stature she more than makes up for with attitude!

"Though she be but little, she is fierce!" -W.S.

I posted a few other shots of her causing trouble. She was obviously having an exceptionally irritable day!

Dora has really become cantankerous lately.

She has decided that the couch belongs to her, and is starting to take issue with the other cats laying on any part of it.

This is a problem, since the couch, (like my bed) is considered to be "neutral territory", and all the cats like to make themselves comfortable on it.

Ozzie was just minding his own business. laying on the arm, when Dora jumped up and bit him in the butt.

Sometimes Ember will let Ozzy snuggle up to her.

Dora seems right at home among the Christmas decor!

To think! I was going to actually going to adopt her out!

LOL! Look at her! She was just so darned cute, there was just NO WAY I was ever going to part with her.

HA! Perhaps if I could have fast forwarded to the present, and seen what an attitude she would develop as she got older, I might have been given it more consideration...............

NAH! She's my grumpy girl, and I love her!

Learn the difference!!

it's all in how you read the eyes!

Who says older kitties can't have fun? She's seven in this picture.

i love how she looks like she's smling!

A baby Kenya talkin' to me.

Title: Mistocles

Notes: This was a weird week. Just after Thanksgiving Weekend and traveling to family, we had a family emergency which ended up miraculously well in the end. The events are unrelated to my photo choice, except by their affect on my week and state of mind, which was decidedly distracted. And we did not go out anywhere either, so I was left with ver local subjects ;-). The result is this photo of our kitty, Misty aka Mistocles (and other variations). This is the final result after editing in Aperture.. crop and Color Effects Pro for tweaking.

LOL!

In your dreams Dora!

If a squirrel stood right in front of you and actually let you jump on it, you still wouldn't be able to handle it!

Dora is a very small, rotund kitty. If she looks bigger, it's just an illusion! It's all fur!

She is not that coordinated either....as cats go. Her jumping skills are limited, and she's not much of a climber, and she certainly wouldn't win any race!

Of course she makes up for all these short comings by being extremely beautiful!!

Time for some more cat spam!

you can just see the corner of the dog bed in the corner of the bottom left hand corner of this shot.

I watched this whole little drama unfold.

Dora was laying on the edge of the bed and Raven just figured she'd share the space and went to lay down. I guess she figured there was enough room for two, and besides is WAS her bed., But, Dora immediately coped a 'tude.

Raven is an easy going gal, but even she has her limits.

She wanted her bed back in no uncertain terms.

She's smart enough not to get close to Dora's claws, but barked like crazy until Dora finally gave up and skulked off.

Raven had learned the only way to make a cat move when it doesn't want to, is to use her special high pitched, obnoxious bark repetitively, as close as possible to the offending feline, without coming into claw swiping range.

Guaranteed to make them vacate the area within a minute or two!

...Everybody KNOWS that I'm the original Grumpy Cat!"

Have a great day everyone!

I'll catch up with your photos this evening!!

Serious look for a small cat

It must have very thick soles.

A Compton tortiseshell (nymphalis vaualbum) caught on an old roof in the woods.

Ember enjoys being at my eye level on the cat tree.

I really loved the look of complete contentment on Dora's face while Simon groomed her.

Tagged and collared calico cat.

Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada

Calico cats are domestic cats with a spotted or particolored coat that is predominantly white, with patches of two other colors (often orange and black, sometimes gray). Outside North America, the pattern is more usually called tortoiseshell and white. In the province of Quebec, Canada, they are sometimes called chatte d'Espagne (French for '(female) cat of Spain'). Other names include brindle, tricolor cat, tobi mi-ke (Japanese for 'triple fur'), and lapjeskat (Dutch for 'patches cat'); calicoes with diluted coloration have been called calimanco or clouded tiger. Occasionally, the tri-color calico coloration is combined with a tabby patterning; this calico-patched tabby is called a caliby.

"Calico" refers only to a color pattern on the fur, not to a breed or two-colored eyes on a cat. Among the breeds whose standards allow calico coloration are the Manx, American Shorthair, British Shorthair, Persian, Arabian Mau, Japanese Bobtail, Exotic Shorthair, Siberian, Turkish Van, Turkish Angora and Norwegian Forest Cat.

I was so impressed with Sally's mothering skills.

Even though she was little more than a kitten herself, she seemed to know exactly what to do for her kittens.

She was very attentive and protective. I have to laugh now, remembering how upset she was when the kittens finally started venturing away from "the nest" in my closet. She spent a lot of time scruffing them and carrying them back where they belonged. When they started going down the stairs to explore the 1st floor, she about lost her kitty mind!

When they got too heavy to carry anymore, she finally gave up.

Small Tortiseshell butterfly enjoying the thistles in my garden. Don't seem to mind you getting close.

Ozzy is proving to be quite the lap fungus.

Phanta & little Prim early this morning . . .

First time in a couple of years seeing this one in the yard.

My little cat over my room's door.

Since Win has gone Nana is getting bolder and bolder. Big Win was definitely Queen Bee in the household. Nana always used to scurry around keeping hidden but lately she is putting herself on show more and more. Sitting on the bed post is her newest trick

Dora is always happy to cuddle with me.

Here she's waiting for me to put the camera down and invite her up onto my lap for some lovin'......that is as long as her brothers aren't already on my lap.

Dora does not share the limelight! It's always all about her!

Many thanks to everyone who takes the time to comment or faves my pictures. It is very much appreciated.

Title: Mistocles (SOOC)

Notes: This was a weird week. Just after Thanksgiving Weekend and traveling to family, we had a family emergency which ended up miraculously well in the end. The events are unrelated to my photo choice, except by their affect on my week and state of mind, which was decidedly distracted. And we did not go out anywhere either, so I was left with ver local subjects ;-). The result is this photo of our kitty, Misty aka Mistocles (and other variations). This is the SOOC shot before editing.

One has to be quick with the camera to catch a picture of her. She doesn't lay around for very long before she's off and playing again.

I love my old wooden floors, but at this time of year it's really a pain trying to keep them clean.

Every time somebody comes in the door, they're dragging snowmelt or salt in, which they then track all over the house! (like anybody would actually think to wipe their feet!)

Oh well! I've always thought that having a clean house was overrated!
