Dora is lying at the top of the steps next to the root cellar doors.
From this vantage point she can see all the action on the front porch and side yard.
but then Dora rarely is!
She could give Grumpy Cat a real run for his money!
LOL! It's amazing how the demeanor of a cat can change instantly just by plopping something on their head!
In order to accommodate some of the Christmas decor, it's necessary to rearrange certain things.
To make room for the Christmas village, I've moved the basket full of cat toys. Dora seems to have taken issue with this decision.
You know that "thing" I have that attracts cats?
It seems my son Chris, has whatever it is too!
He has "a way".
Dora loves him.
...These flowers are fake!"
I was doing a little decorating for Easter and when I put these fake daffodils out on the table, Dora seemed rather disappointed there wasn't any fresh greens!
Someone just recently asked about Stella.
She's such a quiet, fly below the radar kind of gal. She spends a majority of her days sleeping in one of her 3 favorite spots. Under the record cabinet, in the south window of the diningroom, or here in the dry sink.
She despises all the other cats.....especially Leo and Floydd, who go out of their way to harass, and chase her
I do my best to run interference for her when I can.
Dora was happy the sun was out and she was able to get back to one of her most favorite activities.
Sitting in the window box outside the diningroom window, gazing up at all the bird activity in the ivy on the south side of the house.
She spends HOURS in this position!
This is my view of her from inside.
after a day of being stuck in the house during the big storm on Friday, all the cats were happy to be able to get out into the fresh air and pursue their little kitty agendas.
Dora was feeling particularly perky.
As I was walking around the yard looking at all the debris I'm going to have to rake and pick up, she was racing ahead of me, throwing herself down and doing little somersaults!
"Look at me! I'm so cute!"
Putting the video from YouTube of the birds on the tv for the cats to watch was even funnier than showing it to them on the computer.
Vinny and Dora were simply mesmerized. The birds were as big as they were!
LOL! They reminded me of 2 kids in the front row of a movie theater.
Warmer days coming this week according to the weatherman.
I need to get out of this house and get some fresh air and take some photos that don't have cats in them! I'm starting to get a slight case of cabin fever!
Have a great weekend peeps!
While sitting on my porch down at the shore, drinking my morning cup of joe, I saw this cat run across the road from the church property and go under my car that was parked by the curb.
I almost spit my coffee clear across the porch! OMG! I thought it was Sally!
For a brief second I was thinking "Good Grief! How did she stow away in the car while I was packing?"
But at second glance, I realized this cat actually looked like a combination of Sally and Dora..........Sally's face, Dora's coloring on the body..
This makes me re-think where Sally might have come from.
Because most of the ferals I would see down at the shore were black, I just assumed that Sally.....because she was so friendly and seemed used to people was not feral, but probably a throw away that somebody dumped.
Was there a whole litter?
Was she actually a feral?
Is this cat related to her?
So weird for her to show up almost in the exact spot I found Sally!
LOL! When I pointed her out to Larry and my step-son, they both said.....in UNISON........NO! FORGET IT!You CANNOT bring her home!!
Not a chance of that happening.
Unlike Sally, this gal did not want to make friends at all.
on Christmas morning I always put the "Yule Log" video on the tv, since lighting the actual fireplace is a little dicey with the commotion going on in the livingroom and the fact the candy and other stuff in the stockings that had been hung with care, would have probably melted!
This year I discovered that several different stations were featuring a Yule Log, including The Hallmark Channel, which had "Yule Log and Friends", that had all sorts of cute, furry animals in front of a fireplace.
YES!
One of the funniest moments of the morning was when I turned around and spotted Dora intently watching a bevy of bunnies hopping across the tv screen. She sat there for several minutes totally mesmerized! LOL....a true Hallmark moment!
Hi everyone! Just thought I'd drop in and post a few pics.
I'm busy, busy, busy.
The weather has been spectacular, and I've been ensconced in the garden most of the week, planting up my containers and cleaning up flower beds.
Making the most of the sunshine!
Sounds like the weather isn't going to be so nice this upcoming weekend. I'll catch up with everyone then!
Have a great day Peeps!
It's Kitty Christmas time here at Cat Hill Farm! 8-))
(I have the distinct feeling that Dora isn't "feeling it"!)
Dora spotted Raven across the yard coming towards her and decided she should try and look menacing.......just in case!
LOL! Little cat, BIG 'tude!
...but not much! At least not these days.
Larry watching the evening news and petting Dora, while Leo and Sally hang nearby.
when Dora decides it's time for a little tenderness she knows she can always snuggle in with "Uncle Simon".
Dora's favorite time of day is right after dinner, when Larry sits down to watch the news and read the paper.
Dora is hovering in the livingroom just waiting for him to settle on the couch.
Most nights his butt hasn't even hit the cushion, before she's all over him, purring and rubbing and telling him all about her day.
He gives her a good petting and then she usually settles down next to him.
Larry's her guy!
She's living alone in her own room. The females, Fly and Nixie, want to see her. Jasper and Boris could care less.
My Christmas frogs are out of the box and up in the dry sink where I've always displayed them.
Since Stella has taken over the dry sink as her private sleeping spot (there's a cushion up there for her to curl up on), I've had to rearrange the frogs so they don't encroach on her cushion.
She still does not look happy about having to share her space........and of course I've plopped that hat on her head which isn't helping her disposition one bit!
Don't be such a Kitty Grinch Stella!
Yes Dora! Mom is in full swing here!
Dora is watching me as I haul in all the decoration boxes and start to unpack them.
Lights and garland are starting to appear around the windows, and treasured holiday trinkets and decorations are starting to pop up here and there.
It's okay Dora! Mom might seem a bit deranged during the next few weeks, but it's only because she loves this all so much! It's the only time of the year she can release the Holiday Window Dresser that's trapped inside of her!
...I wasn't too crazy about the bow. What made you think this hat was going to be any better?"
So, every night after dinner, Dora settles down on the back of the couch. Once she's comfortable I've been trying to get her to pose for some holiday photos.
(The lighting could be better, but we have to work where we're at, trying to move her would only tick her off more)
As you can see from her expression, this whole premise is starting to wear a bit thin.
She's trying HARD to keep her cool here!
Dora is a rather small kitty, and about as wide as she is long.
She looks like a little bear when she stand on her hind legs!
This vase of tulips was just sitting here temporarily, until I took it upstairs to the bedroom mantel (another spot the cat's can't access).
I think Dora was making a plan here!
Vinny, Dora and Ozzie
the official 2 year old picture.
It was 2 years ago on Sept. 6th that Sally popped these guys out in my closet.
the steps that lead down off the porch, past the root cellar doors quickly cover with this sedum groundcover, and I'm constantly yanking it out. so nobody trips down the steps.
I forget exactly when it blooms, but it gets these little yellow flowers all over it that are really pretty. Another plant that was just here, when Larry bought the farm.
My Daughter's Cat. She was in a rescue group for about 8 months or more .. my daughter kept seeing her there month after month ......
