800mm tall, 800g in weight, 8000 holes cut out of it. A bit of a pattern is emerging here.
I had a chance to carry the torch for about 6 feet today, before I had to put it down and photograph its beautiful design.

That's me on the left torching the glass after its poured. This is done to even out the heat in the piece where there are fluctuations in thickness of the glass. At Pratt Hot Shop in Seattle.

Jamaal Magloire's Toronto Revellers held a costume launch in April to show off the new designs that thousands will be wearing on the parade route of Carnival in Toronto this summer. Jamaal is involved in the Pan Am Games so the theme of his mas costumes is Torch. It is for the relay torch but in the case of his costumes, it is all about making the costume judges green with envy by being hot hot hot. Pretty in Teal!
Guildford was the host of an "evening celebration event" at the end of Day 63 of the Olympic Torch Relay. This was held at Stoke Park, and due to there being no parking at the site, four park and ride services were operated, managed by Arriva Guildford & West Surrey.
The park and ride to Merrist Wood College, Worplesdon (at GU3 3PE) was operated by Arriva Guildford & West Surrey using a mixture of its own buses and vehicles hired in from its sister Southern Counties subsidiaries.
It used the back half of stop A at the Spectrum leisure centre, which is the stop usually used by standard Guildford park and ride service 100 to pick up passengers going to/from the leisure centre itself. The layby is two buses long, which came in handy as it meant two routes could use it.
All four park and ride services were free (though obviously open only to ticket holders of the event) and started at 1.00pm, running to 5.30pm. There was then a gap until 'home time', with services running from 7.30pm to 10.30pm, although last buses departed from the Spectrum at 10.00pm.
Parking at the sites was on a first come, first service basis. The services were scheduled to run every 20 minutes, though in practice were running far more frequently than that, with buses departing the terminus as soon as they were full.
Seen here at 2021 is a rear view of Arriva Kent & Sussex Volvo B7TL/TransBus ALX400 6448 (GN04 UFU), sisters with G&WS's own 6402, 6403 and 6415. All 49 of this batch were new to Gillingham depot, but I believe this one is now based at Maidstone.
Included due to the amazing rear LED display, which showed a man running (perhaps with a torch?) and actually moved across the screen.
The Olympic Torch relay reached Yorkshire today ... and luckily I gave myself the morning off work to see it in action as it passed through my local town of Boston Spa ;)
The atmosphere was brilliant, especially as all the local schools brought the children to crowd the streets in support.
I was lucky enough to find a spot early on in a prime position for the handover of the flame. This shot is a closeup of torchbearer Marc Scott's torch.

I've had this for 15+ years and have only had to replace the batteries a few times.
Sometimes you get a carbon build up in the cave and it needs to be scraped and cleaned so the current has a ground to go to. A small steel or bronze plumbers brush might be able to get in there?
