On 8/29/2014, I ran by the BNSF Topeka shops and found the nicely torched AC4400CW #5676 in the back, showing off a nice hybrid of torched, primered and untouched parts, though surely they'll all end up H3 soon enough.
This torch belongs to one of the official runners in San Francisco. Please no faves or invites, I don't want any protests on my stream...

Etlingera elatior (also known as Torch Ginger, Ginger Flower, Red Ginger Lily, Torch Lily, Wild Ginger, Combrang, Bunga Kantan, Philippine Wax Flower, Xiang Bao Jiaing, Indonesian Tall Ginger, Boca de Dragón, Rose de Porcelaine, Porcelain Rose) is a species of herbaceous perennial plant[citation needed]. The showy pink flowers are used in decorative arrangements while the flower buds are an important ingredient in the Nonya dish laksa. In North Sumatra, the flower buds are used for a dish called arsik ikan mas (Andaliman/Szechuan pepper Spiced Carp)
It is known in Indonesian as bunga kecombrang or honje, Malay as bunga kantan and Thai as ดาหลา daalaa. In Thailand it is eaten in a kind of Thai salad preparation.
In Karo, it is known as asam cekala (asam meaning 'sour'), and the flower buds, but more importantly the ripe seed pods, which are packed with small black seeds, are an essential ingredient of the Karo version of sayur asam, and are particularly suited to cooking fresh fish.

The Annual Fall Festival Torch Run is a 13-mile non-competitive run from the Philadelphia Art Museum to Villanova University benefiting Special Olympics Pennsylvania (SOPA). The Run leaves from the steps of the Art Museum as members of the Philadelphia Police Department, SOPA athletes, dignitaries and other members of law enforcement begin the long and inspiring journey.
Law Enforcement Teams from across the region participate in the Run to celebrate Special Olympics Pennsylvania’s Fall Games at Villanova University. The Fall Festival Torch Run also serves as a run in memory of fallen officers from across the state, and ends with the lighting of the Flame of Hope during Opening Ceremonies at Villanova on Friday evening in The Pavilion.
Removed from the Statue of Liberty in 1985 and moved from its interim space in the statue pedastal to the new Statue of Liberty Museum in 2018. The replacement torch held high by the statue is covered in gold leaf and illuminated by spotlights.
The face to the right of the photo is a full-scale replica of that on the statue.
The gem I had been waiting for was the much modified former Malta route bus EBY528 now registered SKR801G and one of two being used to promote Lloyds TSB on the Olympic Torch Relay.

It was our turn today for the Olympic Torch Relay down in Canterbury!
We had a splendid lunch at a friend of mines restaurant - all with a british theme and accompanied by some fab wine from the Chappledown estate!
Then a few minutes before the torch was due we prized ourselves from the table and stepped outside to see the torch go by. This in fact was the runner that followed the one we saw walking past into position a 100 metres or so down the road. She was right in fornt of me and I grabbed a couple of shots of her. I really like this, I had initially cropped it to just the torch but I decided I like it more with just a bit of her face in the frame too.
As a bonus I have tonight been able to arrange getting my hands on one of these babies from a friend of my other half who ran with it in the Channel Tunnel yesterday! Hopefully some nice pictures to follow!
One of the prettiest views of the Buzludzha monument you can get is from half way up the mountain at the Torch monument. It is also a good place to park your car if you came with one. The path you see here is not the easiest way to get to Buzludzha, there is a road on the other side of the mountain top, but it is defelinitely worth the trek.
The space in the front of the house was lit with actual burning torches rather than electric lamps. It gave a lovely natural light and a lovley smell too.
This Tuesday, Rupert, my friend's adult son with Downs Syndrome, had his usual barbecue birthday lunch party for some 40 students and carers from the Co-operative that he attends.
I have made Rupert's birthday cake for many years but this year I just couldn't. However, I was determined to do something, so I attempted a few cupcakes. The rice paper toppers that I found on eBay were just wonderful, and so appropriate, as Rupert has been selected to be one of the Olympic Torch-bearers !! He is doing his run on the 17th of July through our town.
As you might expect, the weather on Tuesday was very showery and we weren't sure the barbecue was going ahead until 11am that day ! Hence the cupcakes were very roughly iced but the guests seemed to enjoy them regardless !
The rain held off for most of it and everyone had a great time !

This is a clumping type of ginger with large elongated leaf stems that may attain 20 feet. The name describes the inflorescence that forms at the end of a stalk and resembles a torch. This ginger is native to the East Indies. It is not recommended for small confined areas.

After it blew out of its rusted frame a few years ago; either the landscapers, IDOT, or the owner of the Wauconda BP station tossed this smashed-up Amoco sign into the woods. It wasn't until the plant overgrowth died off for the winter that I finally caught a glimpse in the corner of my eye, while driving to work one afternoon.
