A Christmas pressie for my brother-in-law who travels a lot. My first attempt at making a toothbrush/toothpaste travel roll. I will modify it if I make another. Lovely mirror ball dots for the binding!
I couldn't believe it either! This is a genuine toothpaste product you can buy, here in Hong Kong.
I was queuing up to buy something today, in Watsons (a chain of drugstores in Hong Kong, equivalent to Boots in UK), when I saw this product. I had to double check that my eyes were not deceiving me!
I am astounded and appalled that a product with the name 'Chinky' could ever make it to market, in above all places Hong Kong.
Can you imagine the furore that would ensue, if they had launched a product in the UK (and probably any other western country), using a name with such racist connotations?!
Ok, so this word may not have a great deal of meaning to local HK Chinese, I mean why would it? 8 million Chinese people are hardly going to resort to calling one another Chinky. But to Chinese who were born and raised abroad, this word means plenty!
My point is this. It may not be offensive to the majority of people here, as they simply do not understand the meaning of word, but, it's sending out the wrong message to people who do understand.
I'm not sure which governing body looks after 'racist named products', but I shall find out and write to them.

PERSONAL FUN FACT: I must have really had a soft spot for this pajama set when I found it on Cloe at a flea market in 2011. I say this because there were several things going against Cloe at the time. Firstly, she was missing a slipper, which was a big deal to someone who barely had spare Bratz shoes. Secondly, she had nasty nylon hair that I didn't know how to fix up. And yet I went ahead and bought her anyways....maybe because she was only a dollar. But there were way nicer dolls who I specifically wanted around that time frame, who I chose not to buy for the same price. Anyways, I love these jammies to this day. They were tons of fun to make handmade earrings for. In a way, this set reminds me of the Jammaz Moxie Girlz pjs and also American Girl Kit's One-Piece Pajamas set. The thermal styling and the polka dot print is very cozy and somewhat childish looking. It's not really the sort of ensemble you expect a Bratz doll to wear. I mean after all, Cloe has literally worn lingerie to wash her dog. I find these more subdued, sweet pajamas to be refreshing. It's nice when Bratz can wear more realistic clothes, although I never have complaints towards their outrageously inappropriate ensembles!
For our first assignment in Kim Klassen's online class "Beyond Layers" -- our assignment was to keep it simple. This was very difficult for me! I don't usually set up stills, so this was another challenge, but now I can see all kinds of opportunities to use the "stuff" that hangs out around our house. I used two layers of Kim's texture "awaken" both at soft light (100%). I also used a hue/saturation layer to tone down the colors in the candy hearts. Also stuck to my 2012 resolution to take new photos rather than search through the archives for something to use! :-)
I really like the Multiplicity images. Rebekka has some of the best. One theme though that seem to be common is a creepy, scary, surprise killer in the background. I've been trying to have fun with the multiplicity thing and this is my parody of them.

A brand that no longer exists, but the neon sign is one of the first ever in Stockholm, and has consequently been kept and are a "protected landmark" sort of.

St. Pauls bus station, Walsall, West Midlands.
Wearing the short lived 'Colgate Toothpaste' livery with 'Travel West Midlands' fleetname and 'WM' logo's 1776 is seen leaving Walsall on a service 935 working for Birmingham City Centre. This vehicle had recently been transferred from Acocks Green garage and remnants of it's route 37 branding can still be seen.
