Sharpening my standard lathe tool. The grinding wheel is rated at 3600 RPM, but I'm only running it at about 1200 so the forces are very much reduced. It only takes one swipe at very low pressure on the tool.
A lot of my tools are second hand so a lot of the joints rock or are worn. It was time to assess what I have and ideally what woudl be nice to replace/update and choose what I'd actually like to use! PB-Swiss and Knippex to the rescue...

Now that's what I call "overpackaging". The new Tool album comes with awesome music and some funny glasses.
I attended an open house at an artist's loft in Amesbury, MA on Saturday afternoon. Sometimes the artist's tools are as interesting as their artwork.

Probably it's a No. 6. (1896-1931).
Side handle is missing.
This is a vintage Stanley wood plane, #18. It is a well built item, and has been well taken care of.
Tools of this quality are a thing of the past.
Loc-line modular snap-together hose, used for making strong flexible water-and-oil-tight low-pressure lubrication systems. Also useful for industrial-grade third hand vises.
The tool at center is a clamp used for sharpening chisels. I have no idea what it is called but it works well.
Taken on one of those grey, uninspiring days in the back of our garage.
