I spotted this small boat on a walk around Töölö Bay (Töölönlahti) in the Baltic City of Helsinki. Now why would you call a boat Titanic? Someone in Finland has a strange sense of humour, but I like it. Date: 01/07/2024

Titanic, Belfast

At this exhibition, the ROV above moved across, providing different lighting looks over the model.

The background structure reminded me of a Titanic-like ocean freighter beaching itself on the alien landscape of Arches National Park. The setting sun only helped enhance the effect in my mind :).

Here's my take on a micro Titanic!

Simplicity is beautiful - and microscale really showcase this beauty. In such MOCs, every piece has its place, every piece has a meaning and every piece is used at its best.

This teeny tiny ship may have took only 5 minutes to design, yet I am very proud of it.

How is it built? The ship is balanced! Try it, it works!

The TITANIC EXPERIENCE designed in scale with the Titanic. The street level show how the mighty Titanic looked above the water. I took this photo to show the proportion of passenger/visitor to the Titanic/museum.

I’ve seen it from the outside only. I took the “Black Taxi Tour” :

At around 2.20 am on the morning of 15th April 1912, after hitting an ice berg in the Atlantic Ocean, east of Newfoundland, the RMS Titanic sank, with the loss of around 1,500 lives.

On the previous Thursday, 11th April 1912, one hundred and thirteen steerage passengers boarded the Titanic at Queenstown (now Cobh) in Cork. Fourteen of these passengers were from in and around the village of Lahardane in the parish of Addergoole in County Mayo, located at the foot of Nephin (the mountain you see in the background here).

Eleven of the fourteen died and just three survived. No area in Ireland suffered greater loss of life in this terrible tragedy.

The people from the local area have now built this memorial to the Addergoole Fourteen (as they have become known) and all of those who were on the Titanic. It will be officially opened on Sunday next when a number of events are planned to mark the 100th anniversary of this terrible tragedy.

Titanic Belfast, my third large scale build for Bright Bricks. Currently on display at the The Titanic Belfast Museum as part of the Brick City Lego tour.

This was the most technically difficult build I have undertaken to date, it took me approximately 4 weeks to complete. Two weeks talking to the architect, deciphering the technical plans, figuring out the angles and to build the base/ground floor. One week to build the façade panels. And finally one week putting the whole thing together in a Perspex box in the middle of a busy shopping centre in Belfast.

As per usual with this type of build I had plenty of help and advice from the Bright Bricks team.

WIP photos can be seen on my Mocpage .

Titanic Belfast is the world's largest Titanic visitor experience and a "must see" visit in any tour of Belfast and Northern Ireland. It is located in Titanic Quarter, right beside the historic site of this world famous ship's construction. Housed in an iconic 6-floor building, this state-of-the-art visitor experience tells the story of the Titanic, from her conception in Belfast in the early 1900s, through her construction and launch, to her famous maiden voyage and tragic end.

My model of the RMS Titanic in 1:500 scale. The model contains about 1290 parts and is about 54cm (21") long. More info on my website!

John Smith, the captain of the infamous ship, the Titanic. Everyone knows the story of the Titanic, and hoe it crashed into an iceberg, killing many of its passengers and crew. But many people don't know what happened to Captain Smith after the shipwreck.

John awoke in the icy waters. He looked around, and saw nothing but bodies and debris. This is right he thought, i should be dead. To his right he saw the iceberg. The iceberg that crashed into his ship, and killed so many people. He swam over to it, and managed to crawl on a flat part, he laid there for a moment, and then he broke down and began to cry while hitting the iceberg till his knuckles bled. Then, something "magical" happened. And the iceberg started to form around John, he then feared for his life once again, as he became frozen in the very same iceberg that caused hundreds of deaths that night.

Over 100 years later, a fishing crew in their boat came across John's frozen, seemingly lifeless body encased in the ice. They began to thaw him out, and to their surprise, he awoke. The fishing crew then clothed John and fed him for the rest of their trip. When the boat returned to shore weeks later John stepped out into the world on his own and learn and adapt to the new world. But little did John Smith know he would learn something else out about himself very soon, whether he liked it or not. ~

Powers and Abilities:

He freeze the water particles in the air, and shape them into what he wants

Durability, cause ya know, ice stuff

An unknown power to his unknown powers. it's crazy

Oh yeah, he's also kind of drunk and depressed now, hence the bottle.

The Titanic building, Belfast shot at night. I am sure all of these shots of this iconic building have been done before, but thought I would have a go myself. Top and bottom ones were taken with the 10-22mm thus the distortion of the verticals.

The RMS Titanic or "the unsinkable ship" left for America after calling in Cherbourg and Queenstown (now Cobh) on April 14th, only to meet a tragic fate after a course change which lead to the mighty vessel striking an Iceberg in the mid Atlantic. the ship sank soon thereafter at around 2am, breaking in half and taking 1,500+ of the 2,224 souls on board.

After taking pictures of the interior of the Titanic in 1912 I decided to use a 3D model of the wreck to take some with a submarine in Second Life.

(Sorry for that sort of green reflection but it was a pain to edit this dark picture! :v )

This may be a spoiler if you plan to visit Titanic Belfast: One window of the museum looking north switches between transparent and intransparent mode. A picture of the Titanic under construction is etched onto the window. As soon as the window is in transparent mode the Titanic is superimposed to the real outside scenery resulting in what you may call 'augmented reality'. I really was impressed!

I will confess to gasping and suppressing a squeal when we first saw this. The first thing you see are the double doors, then the hall to your left. It really is impressive, especially to someone who has dreamt of the ship for most of her life.

A long weather line of storm cloud crosses the River Lagan this evening. Looking seaward with the Titanic construction site on the right hand side. I love a bit of weather drama but sometimes it happens at inconvenient times.... this was a drive by shooting from the M3 motorway bridge..Lol!! And no - I was not driving!! Sometimes the high ISO capabilities of camera just have to be used for fun!

The 'RMS Titanic' was a British passenger liner, operated by the White Star Line, that sank in the North Atlantic Ocean on

April 15,1912 after striking an iceberg during her maiden voyage from Southampton, England to New York City.

Vintage posters depicting the doomed ocean liner are relatively rare. Many images of the Olympic-class ocean liner 'Titanic' were taken down and destroyed by White Star Line in the wake of the disaster. This image of the Titanic is based on a 1910 painting by British poster artist Montague Birrell Black (1884-1964). Black is best known for his work in producing watercolor artworks to serve as the basis of lithographs for the White Star Line.

A quick three shot pano of the Titanic Attraction in Belfast, weather was dull and grey during my time there but thought the shot would make a a reasonable B&W. Lots of lines to take in to consideration and perhaps a better point of view next time.

Titanic Belfast is a visitor attraction and a monument to Belfast's maritime heritage on the site of the former Harland & Wolff shipyard in the city's Titanic Quarter. It tells the stories of the ill-fated RMS Titanic, which sank on her maiden voyage in 1912, and her sister ships RMS Olympic and HMHS Britannic. The building contains more than 12,000 square metres (130,000 sq ft) of floor space, most of which is occupied by a series of galleries, plus private function rooms and community facilities.
