Pretty spring flower in the forest...love these little guys. Always remind me of forest walks as a child with a favorite Aunt.

Just planted my first one of these recently after buying some plants at a 1/2 price sale. I also bought "Oranges and Lemons". I think I'm going to like them a lot. Probably shouldn't have chopped this so much since it was one of my few shots in pretty good focus. But you can you still see the fly if you look closely.
We went to Christams in Salem last night. For the next two days they are having house tours of some of the oldest and most prestegist houses in the city. Most of these houses were built in the late 1700's and early 1800's. Most have been restored. In their day they were quite beautiful and to those of us born in Salem but certainly not in these neighborhoods, it was always fascintaing to just walk by these homes and wonder at the life's being lived inside.
Last night was the first night of the tour. Three homes were opened for viewing and all had music. Funny how time changes ones perspective though, as my husband and I toured those houses last night (we are both Salem natives), we so enjoyed the beauty of the decorations, the craftmenship of the old houses and the history. We no longer wished to be part of this neighborhood though as we realized how cold they probably still were, how much time and effort to maintain them and they were so small. A lovely night though and wonderful memories for us. And yea, we finally got to go inside. Then we returned home to our cozy adobe.

I had a bit of time between dropping Sam off and when the store I was going to opened so I stopped to pick some apples. I find it's always good this time of year to keep some containers (and a ladder if it fits!!) in the car for such occasions.
He's back this morning! I've been by the patio door doing a lens test with 3 of my lenses writing down exif information and doing comparison checks on the images for both auto and manual spot-metering and testing various focal lengths. I'm trying to get the most out of my 100-400mm and haven't been too pleased with the outcome of alot of the shots lately. Although this photo here turned out fine, I wasn't happy with image quality using my zoom lens with yesterday's bird shots. I knew I must have made some setting mistakes and I was rather frustrated and disappointed in the outcome of yesterday's photos. It's not the equipment... it's the person doing the shooting!
One easy mistake I tend to forget about is the two-stages of focal length distance setting switch on that Canon 100-400. If that slider switch isn't clicked to the proper distance, near or far, the clarity is lost. I'm learning through trial and error. View Large On Black

To the viewer, a statement of fact: I can not keep up. And it is downright silly that I have been beating myself up over it, not to mention a little vain of me to think that anyone really cares. After much thought, I have come to the conclusion that I owe it to myself, as well as to you, to no longer even maintain the pretense of trying to keep up. It is a "real life" necessity... I need to spend less time on Flickr. At best, commenting will be hit and miss. I sincerely hope that you won't take it personally. In the approximate two years that I've been on Flickr, I've grown quite fond of some of you. Just know that even though I might not be on your stream very often, you will always be in my heart.

Outside my bedroom window comes a visitor....The light of the full moon illuminates the soft curtains that are blown by the breeze.....He calls....crying of things to come....omens to the innocent and the not so innocent....Stay awake....be aware! There are changes coming on the night breeze.....

My church did a candlelight Christmas Eve service as usual, but they did it in the morning during regular church times by blacking out the windows and passing out candles across the congregation. It was beautiful, minus a couple wax-spilling accidents, and some musical mayhem on stage. What a wonderful Christmas Eve this year!
