About the same time that I was walking out of work after a 12-hour day, I got a text from Grumpy about a freshly-painted UP AC headed my way, and given the evening light situation, I was in no position to say no that! I had my camera with me already, and dinner can wait a bit, right?
Anyway, I finally caught up with the train (and the tipster) as it was rolling to a stop at MP 61 in Grantville. The train was the MSANP-28, and it was led by the UP 7087, a 1997-built Erie product. It has since been rebuilt as a C44ACM.

From one of my tipsters I got an appje that there was a freight train on the way with a gps, it appeared of the Czech company METRANS, I saw that it was going to ride through Almere, I took my Scooter and immediately drove to one of my photo stops, Because there was not much time I decided to take the first photo section between Lelystad and Swifterbant, despite the sun was not good was fully in the wrong sun, but had no choice, the other photo section I would probably not get, then rather this picture than nothing, because had to wait only 10 minutes and the poorly loaded freight train " Prague shuttle" with METRANS 386 029 from Kijfhoek, this because of signal failure thought to be diverted at Baarn on the Flevo and Hanzelijn. ...

Personally I hope that during 2012 the 99% will increasingly rage against the politicians, bankers, millionaire and multi-national tax avoiders, media barons, ratings agency tipsters and all the other self-important and self-righteous scum that daily blight out lives.

Personification of quite a character from the American West -- Buffalo Bill Cody. @ sundown daily, next to a hotel the real Bill Cody had built, seemingly some of the town tipsters put on garb, and do some street theater, even with six guns drawn. What a kick!

A person, who values the beauty of nature and ambient in the world, for richer and happier than those, who did not notices this.
Call me Raf. I'm a shamus who works the dark side of a street a good citizen like yerself ain't never even heard the name of...and if ya got the sense Mother Mary gave ya, you'll keep it that way.
Anyway, sittin' down to the blue plate special at Myra's the other day I got squeezed by a tipster into a hot line about a new gag raisin' a rumpus with the great and the good and all the ships at sea. I dropped a dime to my favorite snitch and he gave me the lowdown toot suite. Seems there is a new racket in this two bit Burg that every wised up gent, chanteusi, gunzle, rouged-kneed floosy and bindleswitch in town been tryin' to cut in on, called VINTAGE FAIR.
The short end is that in this VINTAGE FAIR a whole hopper full of the top designers in Second Life are swiping the best ideas from the past, and draggin' em out of the history books and right into their shops at discount prices, without so much as a Howdy Do.
So I figured it might pay ta slap my shoe leather down to this VINTAGE FAIR and eyeball all this falderal...before it's too late. Ya follow? All the music is gonna kick off on June 10th, sharpish.
Soon as I got more ta chin about, I'll get on the hooter to ya. Watch this space, sweetheart.

The southwest corner of the old Durham County Courthouse has been standing firm against the afternoon sun for more than a century. Completed in 1918, the building surely hosted its share of noteworthy trials over the 60 or so years it served as the seat of justice for the community. But I can't name any of them.
Durham's most famous trial is much more recent, and the subject of a Netflix documentary series called "The Staircase." Whatever happened between novelist Michael and Kathleen Peterson the night she died in 2001, it happened about a mile-and-a-half from where I'm sitting right now typing this.
Before the Netflix series, however, it would have been easy enough to find neighbors who had never heard of the Peterson case. Durham is fast-growing and people working at area universities and hospitals come and go. Census data indicates that more than half the adults in Durham County were born in another state or country. It's good for the economy but a challenge to community memory.
The opposite was true three decades ago when I moved to a small community in the mountains of East Tennessee to work as a crime reporter. Outsiders were rare and people were eager to tell me about murder cases dating back a hundred years as if they happened yesterday: the bow-and-arrow murders... (an anonymous tipster leaving notes at the crime scene); the dynamite murders... (little girls buried in lonely, hillside graves); the apple tree hanging... (discovered by bored children peering through the mist as they rode to school on a bus).
The crimes had become stories owned collectively by the community, passed around and re-imagined. Perhaps in earlier times, they might have become folk ballads and endured forever. Perhaps they still will.

And then he posted the film to Japan and I shot cosmos flowers in a small cosmos garden, Gifu. After shooting a roll I put the dissolved neutral detergent onto all around the film in a darkroom. Then rewind the film and I heated the canister in boiled water for 5 minutes. After I dried the film I got it developed. Came out psychedelic image. I got wet for this?! LOL!
So Yeah I'm still doing night shots, well somebody has to..., and this vehicle was on SouthEastern Trains Late Night Rail Replacement Services from Dover to Assford in East Kent, and this was the best I could be bothered do in the dark and heavy rain as its just a YMS Vehicle, but I suppose I was bound to snap this vehicle at night sooner or later, so I might as well get it over and done with...
A Thank You should also go to the "Anonymous Tipster" who told me that this Rail Replacement would be happening for 3 nights this week, and that something different should be coming tomorow night, even if it did turn out to be GO Ahead out of Folkestone.
But yes I'm sure you still think I'm crazy for going out at 00:05AM, especially when John Lee Hooker sang that "Night Time is the Right Time to be with the Woman You Love!", however unfortunately I still don't have any of that...

hodachrome and I have recently completed another film soup swap .. This roll started off in UK, for this image I took a photograph of the fantastic foot tunnel at Embankment Station in London, between the Northern and Bakerloo lines, and then when the film was posted to Japan, hodachrome shot a Lycoris field along the river in Kaizu City, Gifu. We don't discuss what we have each taken photographs of, so the results are always a surprise..
On finishing the roll, Hodaka "cooked" the film using this recipe here.

Winter bucket
Overnight, in the bucket,
the cement-marked, grime-stained black bucket
catching shed roof rain,
a magical garden has grown, a frosty forest
sending feathered fingers reaching down from the rim,
hugging the sides where the water is coldest.
The ice is fragile, melting almost instantly
even in the shade on this winter morning,
takes on weird and wondrous forms,
the edges sharp and crisp,
catching colour from its surroundings,
reflecting the low solsticial sun.
Here are spruce tree look-alikes, there jagged icicles,
with frilled geometric shapes, and ridge after ridge
of sculptured landscapes, Antarctica in miniature,
in mauves and jade and indigo.
Minutes later, the blades are blunted, the ice invisibly
melting, the fleeting magic over.
I clear broken shards from the bucket surface,
my hands stinging painfully from the cold,
and await tomorrow’s jewelled hoard.
