Anton Parsons Passing Time sculpture

Passing Time is by Auckland-based sculptor Anton Parsons, a graduate of the University of Canterbury’s School of Fine Arts. The work consists of a twisting ribbon of randomly linked boxes - with each box depicting one of the years between 1906 (founding of CPIT) and 2010 (the date of the sculpture’s installation). The work can be walked around, walked through, touched and sat on.

“The winding form of the sculpture – placed on a street within the original 1851 grid plan commissioned by the Canterbury Association for their new settlement – is also a nod to the winding Avon River, an irregular feature of the landscape over which a street grid was placed,” says Anton Parsons.

Well in my house its always coffee time but it seemed a good way to start the week.

So I turned 25 the other day... Time really does fly and I am seeing it more and more as I am getting older. Appreciating everyday and all the moments in between is a crucial necessity.

Daylight savings time occurred last weekend and I have to admit I spent the last week subtracting an hour with every unwanted task I did. If this were last week, it would be 5:30 AM! If this were last week, it would only be 11:00 PM! So went my secret lament, which was only compounded by the fact, I had to travel. That’s business travel, which is so much different from “fun photography” travel. Business travel means your best friend is the recalculating GPS woman on the dashboard.

Here I am though on Sunday morning and if this were last week….. the time would have been exactly the same. My secret lament must end. I’m also home solid this week. Now I wish the GPS woman could be attached to my vacuum to help me locate the nasty nests of dust bunnies. That’s technology for another day.

• The wind whispered through the trees, leaves trembling in response. A child laughed, her voice ringing like chimes. A wave kissed the shore, then retreated, leaving only foam.

An old man watched, hands wrinkled with time. He had learned that all things—laughter, sorrow, warmth, cold—were fleeting. The past was a memory, the future a dream.

A raindrop landed on his palm, cool and fleeting. He smiled. This moment, too, would pass. But for now, it was his.

Everything we see, hear, and feel is just a moment in time - precious, vanishing, infinite.

Thanks for your comments and faves 👍

Guillermo del Toro: At Home with Monsters

AGO

Toronto, Ontario

a while ago,...

her: how's your day been?

me: I spent the day alone,... I'm exhausted.

I hate when she falls asleep.

You can only put off certain conversations for so long,... and when she falls asleep is when I have no choice but to talk to myself.

Which has been often this year, because you know,.. fucking time zones,...

And myself is like that alcoholic friend everyone has,... they know they have a problem, they come talk to you about it, you think you've made them see the light so you part ways feeling good,... only to watch them walk straight into the nearest bar.

And you can dodge their calls, say you're busy, but you know that you need to have that talk again. It stops being you trying to help them, but becomes you sorting your own shit out while you talk to them. It's addictive, you need that time together, with your other self.

Some people call it alone time or being solitary.

It doesn't feel like that to me. It's the noisiest time I know.

But they are the best brainstorming partners you have, you go round in circles, start yelling "you hack!" at each other, coming together, then swearing at each other's unfathomable stupidity again,...

Ultimately either you or other you or other other you has an idea and the rest are just too exhausted or annoyed to care anymore,...

And that's how things get done. In these parts at least anyway.

I don't remember if I took my medication today.

The tree is up and the house is decorated. Are you ready for Christmas ?

"There's much to be said for feeling numb. Time passes more quickly. You eat less, and because numbness encourages laziness, you do fewer things, good or bad, and the world's probably a better place for it." ~ Douglas Coupland

Yes ,time stand still

You remember the good ol' times ...holding hand in hand and all the holy crap .

But you forgot the rubbish you did , how you screwed up .

I don't ....
