Horse of Marken, Netherlands
The Paard van Marken ("Horse of Marken") is a lighthouse on the Dutch peninsula Marken, on the IJsselmeer. It was built in 1839 by J. Valk. A primitive lighthouse had been on the location since the early 1700s; the current lighthouse is a Rijksmonument since 1970.

Taken in the grounds of Craighouse. A huge tree had fallen across the pathway which has now been cut into sections with a chainsaw. I liked the scene and the light coming through the leaves. I've used a bit of tilt on the 24mm tse lens here to give an interesting focal plane, (I hope). :-)
Bruce
Another in my periodic attempts to do some fake tilt/shift. Never quite sure whether it works, though the effect is definitely better, the bigger the image (so press 'L').
This house is in Cromford. Could it be Arkwright's before he built the Castle?

Once again my camera is out for repair again so I have had to switch back to my 2006 Rebel XT. The only two reasonable explanation for its recent string of malfunction is either my photo skills are so intense that it just cant handle it or that in it's old age things are finally starting to come loose. While I would like to think the reason is my sheer skill and intensity I don't find that to be the more rational of the two possibilities. Back in October I took a trip to Vietnam with my beautiful wife to spend some time maxin' relaxin' on the beaches of Phu Quoc. During that time we did some hiking and some driving around on motor scooter. At one point my camera bag took a spill off the bike while stopped at a petrol station. The camera still worked fine however there was some minor cosmetic damage. The camera was sent in for repair when I returned home and was subsequently sent back with minor repairs performed and given a clean bill of health. Almost immediately after getting it back I noticed significant black spots on my images. When I looked at the sensor there was a great deal of dust or debris. I blew the dust off and all was good for a short time but then it came back. I sent the camera in again. They cleaned it out and confirmed that there was a large amount of debris. The lovely techs at Canon returned my camera and all was dandy. The camera worked fine for a few weeks. Then the other day I was out taking photos and all the displays went blank. Nothing seemed to work. The shutter would still fire when I pressed the button however no image was recorded to the memory card. I couldn't access the menu, see shutter speed or aperture, and reviews images on the card. I don't know why. Nothing had changed. One minute it worked. The next it did not. I sent it back in. The work has been completed and the camera is now being tested for errors. Canon will not tell me what was wrong. I don't really care. I just want it back.
