I had a title in my mind. Then I thought of a better idea.
I will ask all of you to title it. One I like most will get a prize. A pro account. I would love all of you to participate for the sake of fun, but the prize will go to one person who doesn't have a pro account.
Hurry up, please! =)

This was one of the last shots of the day, taken just as the last remnants of the sun was striking the north side of the river. I tried to catch the hue of the light at that time. It was before 'blue hour' but still late enough to achieve a sense of early evening. Not a particularly long exposure but just enough to smooth out the river and allow some definition to the pedestrians on the walkway.

Somehow, in this year of record breaking heat waves, whenever we've been out for a 'proper' walk (ie one I take my camera with me) it has always been overcast. Typical. Still, who needs sun when you have this marvel of the industrial age to look at......?

At the end of the Millenium bridge, just as the path takes you back down to the river, you can look back towards St Pauls and get an interesting split view. Part cathedral, part Millenium bridge support. I used my tilt and shift lens to minimise distortions and a four-minute exposure time with both a 10 stop and grad filter to basically time erase the people out of the shot. It was full of mid-day tourists at the time. This particular image was processed in monochrome to provide a comparison to the colour shot creating a more dramatic linear feel to the image

201 seconds of the Zeelandbrug during Rain and Storm. After a long period without rain, it started raining heavily that day. Used the opportunity to take this one.

I went to see my buddy Tim on the weekend who kindly showed me around Hamburg. It was freezing cold (under -10 and windy which felt like -20) but we made the best out of it and rented a tilt and shift lens (17mm) to try on Tim’s 5d Mark II. What a pleasure that was! I did not want to get my 400d back afterwards. If it wasn't so expensive… (No Photoshop here, no re-touching, this is how it was).
I've only ever shot this quirky Pavilion from the opposite side, but the snow helped to blank the canvas to shoot it from this side.
Thanks again for the huge number of views and comments over the last few days.
Have a fantastic Easter!

On this particular morning we had bright, crisp and cloudless skies.
Perfect for getting some silhouettes of trees I think.

Big waves made it difficult to get close to the rocks. I used a TS-E 90mm mkI with tilted focus plane to get sand, rocks and background sharp(ish). Had to push the tripod legs way down in the sand to try and stabilize the rig. But it worked fine for this 2 min exposure with a 10 fstop square 100mm NiSi ND filter

I was very unhappy with my previous attempt at day 159 so here's my new picture for today. This was taken in High Street Arcarde, Cardiff and it is my first try at the tilt and shift technique. It doesn't quite look right on this shot but it's still (I think) a better picture than my earlier day 159 photo.
so yesterday was a big day for me.......I made 50 years on this earth.......just another 50 to go then!.......am I going home, no, I just arrived!
During the Fakkeltocht in Eindhoven, traditionally held on December 24 (Christmas Eve), thousands of people gather at the Wilhelminaplein and walk around Eindhoven carrying torches, to draw attention to the diversity of Eindhoven's society. The torchlight walk, a sign of peace, tolerance and freedom, was first held in 1992, at a time when xenophobia in Germany was on the rise and several attacks against immigrants took place (see Solingen arson 1993).
Slightly different route this year, and seen through a tilt/shift lens that I temporarily have in my possession :-)
Happy holidays to all.
The theme for week 46 is Tilt and Shift. As I do not have a tilt and shift lens I have to resort to guidance and software. Part of the difficulty I have is finding a vantage point with something of interest to work on. I'm not certain it worked here!
Because a fair bit of sliding is involved I'm post it to Sliders Sunday too.
Pick your moment carefully 😲 ......... but get yourself safely into the center of California Street and your rewarded with a nicely framed view of the Bay Bridge in the distance. The iconic trams are certainly an atmospheric bonus 😎
