Made with the tilt-shift fake miniature technique as described here.
The larger sized image looks better!

I thought would try my hand with tilt-shift photography. I chose the high ground, shooting slightly down on a steep section of SW 65th Ave. in Tualatin, Oregon, where it passes over Interstate 205.

While making this photo, the Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue were responding to a nearby house fire. I covered that fire in my album, Firefighters Fight First Alarm Fire in Tualatin.

Another attempt at Psuedo Tilt Shift .
I doubt the effect will ever replace the actual tilt shift lens , but for poor people like me , it's a close second .
My second shot of the train crossing the Wells Viaduct was an excellent subject for tilt shift treatment.

Week 36 ~ Taken September 3rd
The girls and I went to Powerscourt for a wander on Tuesday, partly to try and find a "Tilt Shift" or Model effect subject for this weeks theme and partly because it was a glorious day here and it's such a beautiful place to be when the sun shines.
We sat and snapped photos overlooking the Japanese gardens for a while eventually going to sit in the Pagoda in this pic. We were still sitting here at 5:30 when the "We're closing bell" rang out. It's such a peaceful and wonderful place to sit that time genuinely does fly by so fast..
Not the most technically perfect of tilt shift shots, but when I looked back over my Photos of the day, I knew this is where I wanted my pic to be of..
simple hand held shot with fake tilt shift processing applied. its my first attempt at this style and is something i am really looking to explore as i love the results. I know its not the best shot for tilt shift but it still works for me.
thanks for looking

Even in the rain, Hazel Mountain Overlook is the perfect place to sit and glimpse the first signs of Autumn.

happenstance tilt-shift effect
A tip for tilt-shift fakers...try to shoot at longer focal lengths with the aperture opened up...this will shorten depth-of-field and give the originating image an already smaller sliver of in-focus range. When it comes time (if even needed) to gausian blur the image you'll already have a good section of it out of focus.
In the case of this image I was a passenger in a moving car, which helped further blur (by motion) the foreground. This has also happened to me in shots taken in airplanes where the engine wash distorted the air enough to cause similar blur. I've seen many great examples of this specific phenomenon in this group.
Back to f/3.5 and using the tilt function. The lens is tilted horizontally to the left (counter clockwise). A left or right tilt is also called a swipe, to distinguish it from an up or down tilt.
The focal plane is now alligned with the image plane, moving all three bottles in focus.
Top-left and bottom-right bottles are still out of focus.
Note that the table lamp top-right is now also in focus because it is on the same (diagonal) focal plane as the three bottles.

Just playing around with a fern forest picture I have already uploaded (see my photostream for original). I just really enjoy making these Tilt-Sift Miniatures.
Tilt-shift miniature fakes. Created in Photoshop CS using this Photoshop tutorial. Corresponding weblog entry: Tilt-Shift Miniaturen in Photoshop.
