Made a return visit to the Atlanta Zoo after more than 40 years. It is a wonderful zoo with a great population of gorillas and orangutans. They also have giant pandas, lions, and tigers -- oh my!!!

The Sumatran tiger (Panthera tigris sumatrae) is a tiger subspecies that inhabits the Indonesian island of Sumatra. It was classified as critically endangered by IUCN in 2008 as the population is projected to be 441 to 679 individuals, with no subpopulation having an effective population size larger than 50 individuals, with a declining trend

We had our lunch a few feet from the tiger enclosure on a beautiful sunny day, and watched the tiger cubs at play. Quite an experience!

Female Sumatran tiger at Chester Zoo.

Top ♂ from Zoorasia, Yokohama zoological gardens @ Ueno zoological gardens.

Top was born between Tran ♂ (1985-2004) and Lip ♀ (1992-2010) at the Ueno Zoological Gardens on the 20th of August 1997. He had been at Zoorasia for a long time but now he came back to his home. He is now 14 years old. His parents were both from zoos in Germany by the way... A rumors is going around that Deru ♀ is a distant relative of Top. I have to check it out....

And it has become almost impossible for zoo visitors to see him in the tiger enclosure at the Ueno zoological gardens because he has been enjoying his life within a smaller indoor enclosure. This is due to the fact that his presence in the tiger enclosure makes Khunde, the other male tiger super nervous.

This image was captured in June 2014 while I was in India for 11 days of safari. This Tiger walked directly towards us and decided to lay down. It was part of a group of four Tigers. A mother and three large juvenile cubs. They came out of the bushes and started walking towards us. The entire experience lasted over an hour and remains one of the most memorable Tiger sightings I've had.

These two Bengal Tigers live at the DeYoung Family Zoo near Menominee, Michigan (in the UP). They are companions to the white tiger in my "Sad Story" photo.

Not a good shot, but it's the only one that I have of the two of them together. The white tiger was relaxed when we saw them. The regular tiger kept pacing like he was nervous.

This is another attempt in my quest to improve my post-processing (I used GIMP 2.6.11). I'm not super happy with it, but I think I'm starting to get some concepts down. Comments and criticisms are much appreciated.
