The tiger is the largest cat species, most recognizable for their pattern of dark vertical stripes on reddish-orange fur with a lighter underside. The species is classified in the genus Panthera with the lion, leopard, jaguar, and snow leopard.
I really enjoy visiting the Amur tiger section at Longleat, as I find them extremely beautiful animals. The tigers at Longleat are well looked after, and the zoo keepers are very good at feeding times as they occasionally hide the meat in the branches of trees so that when the tigers are let into their enclosure they have to search for their food. Amur tigers are fully mature and able to mate from 4 years of age. Their cubs are born small, helpless and blind and depend on their mother for safety and for the mother’s milk. Tiger cubs grow very fast and will be almost 4 times their original size after just one month. The Amur tiger is also known as the Siberian tiger, and are considered to be the largest of all of the big cats. They have many stripes; however no two tigers have the same stripe pattern. Amur tigers are now protected by law in the wild and are linked to conservation project.

I love the fact that I am able to get close up to the Amur Tiger. She is such a beautiful Tiger.
The 3 tiger cubs turned one in august. That's one of the cubs lying down ... and i think that's mum standing up, perhaps wishing the cubs wouldnt take over her platforms.

Tiger Breath - It looks cool but I doubt it smells very good. :-)
Animal Kingdom is one of the many Disney parks near Orlando, FL - and this might be the one we liked best. Great exhibits and rides - the various sections had a real international feel. We spent the better part of the day walking around, taking in the sights, and even went back a second time a few days later. Check it out if you're in the area. Also - I'm not very good at animal names, so if you know the name of the animal or bird, feel free to identify it.
One can make out subtle differences in tigers in the jungle as against this one in Pune's Katraj zoo - they look weaker, less fit and lazy.
It was very hot and muggy at the zoo so most of the animals were very sluggish....the tiger would just sit there and look around...clean his face, lick his lips...then look around some more...
