While up there Van changed some light bulbs and redirected one antenna. I think he also took a short nap cause he was up there a long time.

When I organized it this afternoon, I didn't toss or migrate to other places many things. By just restacking everything neatly it is now easier to find things and I have more storage space.
I have also picked up all the stuff that had been accumulating on the floor.
(this public sharing is working on keeping things tidier.)
Went out to Colonel Sam Smith this a.m. for a last crack at the warblers. Had to make good time, since Maria is coming home from Japan this afternoon, and I have to finish tidying the place up for her return.
Saw 14 warbler species, among other good things, but conditions were tough -- mostly very low light, hard winds, 8 degrees, and the birds skittish as heck. After I ditched my tripod and backpack in the car, broke out the cheapo Vivitar speedlight, and (maybe most importantly) flushed a merlin, I was able to get passable photos of three of them.
Black-throated blues were by far the most common species out today. I couldn't get any females, no matter how hard I tried, but the so-handsome males were happy to pose for me. Their backs have this dull metallic sheen that I've seen nowhere else in nature.
The 2010 Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council Tidy Schools in the Community Awards took place in County Hall, Dún Laoghaire today, where the much-coveted award for Tidy School of the Year 2010 went to Mount Anville Primary School, Stillorgan.
The school’s hard work was clearly illustrated by the pride taken in the maintenance of the school grounds and their proactive approach to environmental issues affecting their school and the environment around them. Particular attention was given to the local wildlife with the children growing nectar and wildflower meadows, maintaining a native tree corridor and providing special homes for bees and hedgehogs.

Hmm, guess which caravan is ours?
Once the others had left, we moved ours round by hand until it was more level - it hadn't really bothered us inside the caravan, but the door ceased to close properly and we realised by Sunday morning that we were in danger of breaking its hinges if we kept kicking it shut. So we pulled the caravan onto a flatter bit of ground (not quite as easy as that simple sentence makes it sound...).
sophia had her process down for opening gifts. rip off some wrapping paper, hand it to the closest person, rip off some more. very neat and tidy.
