A composite of 5 shots (of varying exposure). Didn't quite go the whole HDR route (the shadows are still pretty shadowy) but I like the result.
Also, I love this place.

While I want to call these Sea cucumbers, I am not really sure that is the name for them. I snapped several photos of them while I was out with my brother when he was soaking a line in hopes of dinner, but alas, little was to be caught. The sights and sounds of the ocean though were a good thing to see. While not the first time for me to experience them this trip, it was a reminder of what I missed being so far from it.
What I also saw that I did not miss was the people who travelled there to visit. For some reason, being away from home can bring out the worst in some, but for the most part it is (I hope) lack of knowing local custom.
As for the local people here, they were more than pleasant. In fact, if possible, I know I want to go back again.
Proof that, indeed, I have made significant progress on Tidal Wave 2. Most of the second sock was knit during one of the most ridiculous meetings I've ever attended.

We had just left Mac's Shack in Wellfleet and decided to head down to the harbor for a look at the water. It was a relatively chilly night for August on Cape Cod, and the wind was up. It turns out, we hit the waterfront at a VERY low tide.

...not everything caught up in the ebb and flow of the tide is a direct contributor to protecting the essential sand dunes...
Sargassum, or seaweed, visits the beaches and shorelines every spring, but this year it arrived late and has covered more area than in previous years. It may smell and look uninviting to tourists, but it helps to preserve the sand dunes.
Sargassum, a migratory plant that stays afloat thanks to gas-filled bladders that act like buoys, may have originated in the Sargasso Sea, the only sea in the world that is not defined by a land mass. This area of the Atlantic is dominated by masses of free-floating seaweed, hence the Sea’s name. Surrounded by strong currents and lying just south of the Gulf Stream, the seaweed mass usually rotates in place like a very sluggish whirlpool, shifting slightly with changes in weather and temperature, throwing off large sections that drift to the shores of the Atlantic seaboard and into the Gulf of Mexico.
I first saw the Cherry Blossoms at DC in 2013. I was still learning photography at the time so I just snapped away not really caring of the results. Fast forward two years later, i wanted better pictures with a focus on composition. I woke up at 2 am in the morning on the last Sunday during their peak bloom, and drove from Jersey to DC. I made it just in time for sunrise. It was crowded both days I was there. I came away pretty happy with the results.
