The plaque reads:

Inspired by the marvels of the mechanical age and the industries of the historically significant Jewellery Quarter, this 'steampunk' style owl reveals his beating, clockwork heart through a panel in his chest. While he doesn't actually need a monocle, Tick-tock feels that it makes him look just that bit more wise.

I got my very first tick while hiking at Spotsylvania, discovered camping out on my upper thigh later that evening. I was trying to figure out what it was, but it proved shockingly difficult to get a clear photograph.

Birders are always looking for more ticks! I was scratching my head hours later after a visit to Oxley Common and extracted this guy. Looks like he didn't get a chance to sink his beak in.

Me and The Tick the day I picked him up from the dealer in Florida. I'd not long before gotten off the bus after a 13hr trip and breakfast at Denny's.

Ticks aren't just for the deer! This juvenile bird had over a dozen bloated ticks on its neck and head which probably contributed to its death. It's ironic because magpies are among the birds keenest on picking ticks off the deer. It probably picked these up searching for insects in grass.

My final for Printmaking. I used Relief and Intaglio. Also, Cheesecloth was used for the pattern seen in the middle one.

The concept was about human's obsession with time.

For some reason this reminds me of an 80s movie prom.

It is not just people that are drawn to the calypso orchid. Zoom into the heart of the flower to see a tick. Better that than burrowing into the back of my head.

I removed this tick from one of our dogs eye lids this morning. It was the size of a pin head It didn't get much of a feed!

Totally stuck in the tick spoon slot, I was able to get a better look. I suspect this was an adult female deer tick.

One of 'our favorite' character : A square-jawed, muscular, bright blue figure with antennae sticking up from his head, the Tick is a surreal parody of superheroes. The Tick is high-spirited, frequently obtuse, and prone to quipping odd, dim remarks and "inspirational" speeches filled with bizarre metaphors.

"And my middle name used to be Helping People, The Helping People Tick. "

"And that's just it, Doc - my mind has always been my Achilles' heel! "

Time doesn't stop for us.

The flowers of the Sessile Tick Trefoil are tiny about 1/4 inch in diameter. It is listed on one web site I visited as a threatened Ohio wildflower and has already disappeared in some areas of its east coast and mid west range This photo taken in Sept 2011 at Middle Island near Newport Ohio and St. Marys West Virginia. Middle Island is part of the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge.
