The only clear picture of the tick that I managed to get. The little bastard was really hard to kill.

We went for a hike in Bonnie Doon yesterday. We walked through some dry grass and then looked down to find our legs teeming with ticks! Look how they are just hanging out with their legs spread to snag on anything that walks by. We decided it was time to turn around.

Looks like it might be a lone star tick:

Ticks have become prevalent on Haughmond Hill. I inadvertently collected two by sweeping on 22 May 2018. This image of the hypostome indicates clearly why they are so difficult to remove from one's skin once they have bitten one.

This project 365 is tough...it's been almost 2 months since my last update haha, sorry. Anyways so much has happen since, I feel like I haven't been on Flickr for ages. Well I promise myself that I will continue this 365 journey once again. To update here is my 1st wedding I did for a good friend of mine...what a day it was!

Handlenses intended for inspection of fungi proved equally useful for checking each other for deer ticks picked up whilst wading through tall bracken. Though these proved less of a problem than we expected in North Scotland. Midges too were not the nuicence we expected.
