This poor Doe spent 10 minutes biting at all the ticks.
Black-tailed Deer (Odocoileus hemionus columbianus) (F)
The black-tailed deer is one of nine subspecies of the mule deer. It was first recorded by the Lewis and Clark Expedition of 1804-06.
Black-tailed deer live in the temperate coniferous forests along the Pacific coast. These forests are characterized by cool temperatures and lots of rain, but an overall mild climate. Black-tailed deer do not therefore migrate in response to seasonal changes, unlike some of the other mule deer subspecies. Instead, black-tailed deer often spend their entire life in the same general area.

First sighting and first shot,.......ok I know its not the best aurora shot out there.. but its a tick :-)
Deer are plagued by ticks in warm weather and often groom one another by removing engorged ticks. That is what this fawn is doing to its momma. There was an Eastern Phoebe just above them wanting to get in on the action. They often land on a deer for a split second grabbing a tick. I've seen this often, but yet to photo this behavior. Our beautiful world, pass it on.
Macrio Mondays Theme: Arrow
Another motion blur shot for me today. I tried Parker pens, remote controls, card readers, various recycling symbols, clock and even a shield one of my kids had made, but really struggled to find any that I liked apart from this one.
Really appreciate your comments and favourites as always. HMM everyone!
It's Autumn now and the very first sign of Autumn is the gloomy, rainy and cold weather.
Staying at home for weeks. Feeling like being caged!

Come out of the things unsaid
Shoot an apple off my head and a
Trouble that can't be named
A tiger's waiting to be tamed, singing
You are, you are
Confusion that never stops
The closing walls and the ticking clocks gonna
Come back and take you home.
Okay so first of all.... WHAT JUST HAPPENED!!

Abandoned farmhouse in Svarfaðadalur, N-Iceland.
The empty house around me ticks and creaks,
A moody end to evening's gentle rains,
A brooding quiet as the daylight wanes,
The secret language empty houses speak.
What stories might this house preserve entire
In rhythmic code composed of click and groan?
Does House recall a sadness with each moan?
Is laughter stored in every plank and wire?
And how might I, a fleeting visitor,
Acquire an ear for stories trapped in time,
And wrap a tale or two in words and rhyme?
How can I tap the House's secret lore?
In silence soft the house slips off to sleep.
Alone I sit, in darkness vast and deep.

Miss Smee felt somewhat alone in the boat. Even though there was this beautiful indian girl staring her in the face and her captain was standing behind her.
“Cap’n”, she said, “do you really think it’s a good idea we’ve kidnapped the chief’s daughter to try and have her tell us where Peter Pan’s hiding place is? I mean; the chief will be rather sore at ya, don’t you think?”
Captain Iris Hook however did not reply. She was absorbed by her own thoughts while smoking her cigars.
“What do you think miss Tigerlily?” she asked the bound Indian girl in front of her. “Could you put in a good word for us with your dad? We really don’t mean to do you harm. Just tell us where Peter Pan is hiding and we’ll set you free again. Pretty please?”
The beautiful Tigerlily however stared back at Miss Smee with eyes of fire which made Miss Smee turn her head. She felt scared and ashamed at the same time for having kidnapped this utter gorgeous native girl.
Then she looked up again. She thought she had heard a soft noise. Had she really heard the ‘tick tock tick tock’ of a clock in the distance? Could it be that the crocodile that had swallowed an alarmclock was nearby? The ticking crocodile that also swallowed the captain’s hand after Peter Pan had cut if off? Was that monster around here? Then the noise was gone again and there was nothing but the silence of the cold night. She turned round again and said: “Cap’n, did you hear that? Did you hear that noise? Could it be that the croc is nearby?”
Captain Iris Hook didn’t hear her speak. She was deep in thought and stared at a certain point in the distance. Miss Smee could hear her mumble in herself. “Blasted Peter Pan ………………….. scervy brat ………………. cutting off my hand………… feeding it to that crocodile…………. bad form………bad form indeed ….. will get him………… will rip out his guts…………..”
Again miss Smee felt utterly alone in the boat. Then her heart skipped a beat; the tick-tock sound had returned!

Thank you for posing with me sis River and niece Ashlynn!!
Red? or Blue? Which wire to cut??? It's always the dilemma faced by the movie hero. In this case, AS LONG AS IT TICKS ... this isn't good news!
Found at Montagu Mountain Reserve, just north of Montagu. Western Cape, South Africa.
This is the biggest tick I've ever seen. It was crawling on the trail toward me as I was photographing something else. Don't know what the host could be. There were no large mammals other than human hikers in the area that I could see. The only other mammals I saw were what were possibly rock hyraxes.
Single exposure, uncropped, handheld, in situ. Canon MT-24EX flash unit, Ian McConnachie diffuser.
This is Celeste, my newest girl <3 I'm totally in love with her and her red hair! I hope you like her too ^__^

Another one ticked of my bucket list. The famous rock formations of Castle Hill, Arthur's Pass. The core of the milky way is just to the right of the largest rock in the middle. In the bottom half of the core, with a little imagination, you can make out the shape of New Zealand's flightless bird called the kiwi, nicknamed the galactic kiwi. The beak and head are black, it's body is light coloured and it's black legs are dangling below.
