Here is one from spring in the Columbia River Gorge this year. Taken in the Dallas Mountain Ranch area on the WA side. It was the usual blustery evening (can get rip-your-car-door-off windy here if you never been) but this little area seemed to get split second moments of 'calm' to slow things down just enough to capture without blurry flowers. Taken during our Gorge WS. Hope you enjoy.

▶ Is it a late-summer blossom or an early-autumn-er? You decide.

▶"Hylodesmum nudiflorum (previously known as Desmodium nudiflorum) — commonly known as naked-flowered tick trefoil, panicled leaf tick trefoil, stemless tick trefoil, or naked-stemmed tick clover— is a species of perenial flowering plant in the legume family (Fabaceae), native to eastern North America. Hylodesmum nudiflorum is typically found in mature, open hardwood woodlands in moist, sandy, gravelly, or loamy soil with high organic content. It is a nitrogen-fixing species through symbiosis with soil-borne bacteria.
Hylodesmum nudiflorum's delicate pinkish blooms, ⅓-inch (0.8 cm), are sweetly fragrant, occurring mid to late summer, borne on leafless stems. Reminiscent of pea-like blooms, the flowers have a rounded upper petal and three narrower lower petals longer than the upper.
Hylodesmum is a genus of flowering plants in the family Fabaceae, sometimes called ticktrefoils or tick-trefoils. It is sometimes treated as part of Desmodium. It includes sixteen species native to eastern North America, sub-Saharan Africa, and southeast Asia."

Bug of the day on Saturday, this enormous tick was at least 1 cm long and maybe more. I asked my good (and very knowledgeable) friend Steviethewaspwhisperer for any contributions she might have towards a caption - I was expecting science or at the very least some Latin. But instead Stevie suggested a quote from the film Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, in which Helena Bonham Carter's character, Mrs Lovett, said of her late husband that he had "liked to gorge himself to bloatation". 😂
This is of course a female, who has gorged herself on her final blood meal which is now in the process of being converted to many hundreds of eggs.

I'll go to the doc, I answered :D ;)
The first time that I catch a tick - or better: a tick catched me :) At least I got a picture of one :P hehehe
Poor Simon!
First he tries to have a little fun in the catnip and Ozzie spoils his buzz, and then the stupid dog had the nerve to stick her nose up here on the chair and sniff him while he was taking a nap!
He says he'd really like to be an only cat!
lol....I was sitting on the porch waiting for the hummingbird to show up and saw this shot coming when Pearl started heading for the chair Simon was sleeping on.
Pearl is particularly curious about him because he always runs away from her when she comes in the room, so she hasn't had a chance to really "examine" him like she has the others.
He's telling her that she's overstepped her bounds!
I never saw the TV series before, but I remember the first time I saw The Tick character drawing when I was a teen, I think it’s one of the most unique and awesome character drawing I’ve seen at that time. I just saw the 1 episode of the The Tick when I finish this build to look for the best actor to star my imagination movie, and I think Jimmy Fallon would fit perfectly, well because I am a fan of Jimmy Fallon, I bet the movie will be really funny!
I never make a human character build before, so I browsed my fave character builders photostream to look for references, such as Tyler Clites (Legohaulic), 6Kyubi6 (Jimmy Fortel), Letranger Absurde (Vitroleum), thanks guys for the inspiration of all your awesome character builds! Hope you guys like what I build here, though it’s still very basic :)
I used all the 16 seed parts I got as The Tick's antennas on this build.
It’s my 23rd entry for Iron Builder competition vs. Gilcelio Chagas. The secret ingredient for this round is 2 x 2 Domes in Dark Blue.

The whitetails in the Cross Timbers suffer greatly from tick bites. These insidious little arachnids tend to congregate in areas where the deers' hair is thinnest-- around the eyes, anus and backs of the ears. Does do their best to remove them, but all the fawns have some ticks. I've gotten a couple myself this year and they aren't fun. Our beautiful world, pass it on.
Macro Monday theme: Tick
A couple of years ago this little fellow decided to come home with us from the mountains, needless to say he wasn't an invited guest.

It's such a well known logo, it's almost a chiché, however all is not as it seems. The battered and bruised trainer is actually one of a pair of Merrell Moabs that didn't last the pace. I'm actually beginning to think they are knock-offs. Anyway I thought I'd upgrade them to Nike ones with a little orange tick ✔︎. I never did like that 'Swoosh' name!
