What's Christmas without a few ticks? Molly (the dog) picked up a few in the brush around the house.
Tick Tock, Time is passing

a great ear to count the time
Time has feathers, as a bird fly
Larval ticks have only six legs compared to nymphal and adult ticks which have eight. The larvae of blacklegged ticks can carry and transmit Powassan virus and Borrelia miyamotoi.

(I couldn't find a Flickr group for The Tick, so I started one of my own. My first group, yay! :)
So, I haven't uploaded any photos the past few days because I've been bed-ridden from Lyme disease. I have yet to get to the doctor for antibiotics, but I will tomorrow, so hopefully I feel much better soon.
SPOON!
The Tick was so cool!
What we have here is a Holiday issue comic book, a 1996 Taco Bell balancing Tick burger toy and a Charles the Brain Child (Tick's Enemy) Stick & Ball toy which is really well-done and lots of fun to play with no matter what your age.
There's also an Arthur the Moth toy in another picture (hopefully up soon) and somewhere a big talking Tick... "Evil is Afoot!"
More Holiday Fun here
Other "Kid's Meal Toys" here.
~~
All these (and more) need new homes as I'm going to a different country for an extended stay soon so send me a Flickr Mail message (access through the arrow that appears near my profile photo when mousing over it, or click on the little tan envelope that appears on my profile page) if interested.

And the amazing staff of Portland Center Stage!
This early spring till september had been nearly tick free till the start of mid october and today.November 17 , 23 ticks in four minutes and this was a very fast sweep.
Yesterday i had three ticks on me in only a minute
Today all are deer ticks and two velvet mite..
wonder if the clearing on the property line had anything to do with this outbreak .. .
Three ticks were found in our back yard proper and the ticks were found next to the clearing site.
Few days ago i had a tick on my arm at work when i told my wife about it when i got home she said she too had a deer tick on her .
that tick she said was i a bowl of water in the sink . i noticed it was still alive at the bottom of the bowl ..and i asked her how long ago she placed the tick in the bowl she said an hour .
These 23 ticks lasted a few days of under 34 degrees we had at night .and while it only took four minutes to capture live deer ticks i placed in a small coin tube and placed them into the freezer. a half hour they still had shown no life so i could take pictures of them so they would crawl all over the place. still don't know if that killed them out right or just in
hibernation mode .. im keeping them in the tube!
Yes there dead...
and after talking to a friend she said its very likely removal of under growth brush and young trees are a direct cause of this tick outbreak.
Got this tick in the woods in Norway. I've always been warned about them but never had one before. A nice South African nurse extracted it for me, she said they were common in her country.
tick nymph. This is the stage most likely to transmit Lyme disease. It's so tiny (about the size of a poppy seed) that it is often overlooked when checking one's body for ticks. On vegetation near dam.
The rhinos bathe in mud. This cools them down but also kills their ticks, which they then scratch off on tree stumps. If you know what you're looking for, you can find ticks embedded in the mud-caked branches nearby. This one was probably sucking down rhino blood a while ago. Handy if we ever need to bring them back from their DNA, Jurassic Part style.
A Central American Bark Scorpion (Centruroides limbatus). This one was around 5-6 inches long! Luckily these aren't deadly to humans.
If you look closely, right behind the carapace(head) there are a few either ticks or mites parasitizing this scorpion.
430 exii from above
Tick, probably Ixodes ricinus, the Sheep Tick, Deer Tick or Castor Bean Tick, nymph, crawling across my left foot. Woodwalton Fen NNR, Ramsey Heights, Cambridgeshire. Sunday 9 June 2019.
While I was posting last nights hike shots …I felt something crawling on my neck….Yep…It was a tick…When I was going through my photos to post tonight …I discovered a tick in this shot …Do you see it ?
