A severe thunderstorm over North-East Kansas, seen from the Marlatt Park (Top of the World Rd), Manhattan, KS
This night we were woken up by a thunderstorm. Time for some pictures! My first attempt at this kind of stuff. Just took a wide angle long exposure on tripod from our bathroom window. The lightning had the decency to show up at one of the strong points in a classic composition.

This thing was getting bigger and bigger as we flew past. The towering CB was feeding into the larger cloud above which itself was firing off the odd lightning bolt. Best given a wide berth!

A thunderstorm rolling in, recorded at a frame every 2 seconds, and played back at 15 frames per second.
At least at first, this one came out slightly better than the time lapse sequence I did a couple of days ago, mainly because I remembered to turn off autofocus.
On the other hand, for some reason, we slightly lose focus about a third of the way into this one, rendering the rest of the sequence a fuzzy mess that just kind of peters out at the end. Oh well.
