Wanted to visit the bird sanctuary in Tipperne in Denmark today. Instead of birds I was able to watch an impressive thunderstorm coming up.

It was a great night - 10 hours thunderstorm!

Thunderstorm, Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia

Severe thunderstorms with flash flood warnings were raging in the Front Range of Colorado on Sunday evening. We live 90-100 miles west of there but could see the cumulonimbus clouds very clearly. They were monsters!

Climbing out of Singapore aboard Cathay's 777-300 B-HNE... great job by the pilots navigating around the thunderstorms and it was a completely smooth flight all the way to Hong Kong

Carpe diem...... 57 secondi elettrizzanti.

This weakening thunderstorm cell was beginning its recycle to form an active line of thunderstorms just 30 minutes later. At the time of this image (8:08PM), the closest lightning was 10 miles away. However, a half hour later, the closest strike was just 4.5 miles. Soon after this, the storm system moved to my northeast as lightning activity increased significantly. I only received a trace of rain.

Preceded by a cold front bearing strong winds and a 20-degree F drop in temperature, but the dramatic events were viewed safely behind plate-glass windows.

Yesterday this rainstorm passed by slowly - bit of thunder and a sudden downpour. I witness this scene and thought to take a photo a little late as the rain on the other side of the river looked more spectacular before I had the camera ready. But you get the idea.

It was to good to be true, but right after sunset a secondary small non severe thunderstorm started to brew just to the southwest of Kearney.

Even though I just had a spectacular afternoon of some incredible stormscapes, I was in for a treat this night. An electrified thriller, one storm that I wont soon forget.

Well, I have to apologize for this image here. A very simple picture … without a real foreground or interesting composition. In fact I was making a small walk with our dog on the other side of the valley after a huge thunderstorm, when suddenly this amazing light and rainbow came out of nowhere. And I had no chance to find something really interesting on my way … just the time to take my cam and make this image handheld. But honestly … not to make a shot would have been a crime ;-)

I rarely experience something like this on a planned hike. And usually I’m at the wrong place and wrong time when there are such an atmospheric mood. But for heaven’s sake … where is the pink unicorn and the small naked angels playing the harp and flying around the area???

With severe thunderstorm imminent around New Braunfels area, this South bound BNSF train was restricted to 10mph by the dispatcher. I took one shot and since the train was really crawling, I thought why not a second one. So I headed out a mile to grab this shot. It was touch and go because as soon as I ran back to my car, the skies opened up.

Downpour = raindrops burst when they hit!

Supercell thunderstorm just south of Stillwater Oklahoma. This storm produced one EF-3 tornado on May 9.

I love how this storm is an almost perfect representation of a classic storm structure. I am about 4 miles West of storm. I ran out of road and had to make a 4 wheel drive dash to get back in position.

Beautiful mid September thunderstorm over Lake Superior and the apostle islands.
