A fresh edit of a picture from the archives. From a beautiful place called "Morups Tånge" at the Swedish westcoast near Falkenberg. Hope you like it.
This is the same dark thunderstorm as my panorama shot (www.flickr.com/photos/64723635@N05/15010659675/), but the dark clouds went closer and closer... Luckily I was close to my car =)
When I was little, I thought that when it was raining it was raining everywhere, at least for miles around. And maybe that is how it rains in Los Angeles, where I grew up, and where it seems like it never rains and then it pours? But now that I pay attention to the weather here in Chicago, I see that it often only rains in tiny little spots that move by quickly. I love when you can see that it is raining in one place and not raining right next to it. Here, you can see three distinct patches of rain moving by, with sun in the foreground.
Finally an end to our incessant rain ! We managed a few peaks of sunshine as the storms finally moved out. This is a quick IR shot without a tripod because I was parked illegally. It's the only spot on which one can look across Burke Lake to the south.
Best viewed LARGE,
After a couple of summer day's the first sign that autumn is coming and we can look forward to the colored leaves again.
I thought I had taken all the pictures you could find around her, then a sky like this shows up, just wonderful.
During the last days we had a lot of thunderstorms, but too few rain. This image was made at the ferry crossing the Danube near Mariaposching,
Glacier National Park with the sun breaking through during an evening thunderstorm to create a beautiful canvas. Have a great week everyone and thank you as always for your support it is much appreciated.
Nerd talk for thunderstorm, and a substantial one here, producing golf-ball sized hail and presumably lots of lightning. These clouds are deceptively dynamic, building and moving at rates that can be picked up by shutter speeds of 1/30 of a second, and make for fun time-lapse videos.
There was a big, countywide thunderstorm on the weather radar heading for Wichita so I went out the park to shoot the storm as it arrived. I had bad luck and the storm dwindled and the remnants passed to the west of me. But I did get this kind of unusual shot of the storm clouds and sunset.
We finally got a brief thunderstorm, unfortunately we ended up with only 0.06 inches (1.5mm) in the old rain gauge. At least things cooled down from 103f to 76f for a few hours. Timpanogos and Big Baldy peak in the background.
Thunderstorm Mazatlan Mexico. Lots of storm activity as hurricane Hilary is passing by about 200 miles out at sea. Waves up to 9ft are predicted. We'll see. 2023

Wanted to visit the bird sanctuary in Tipperne in Denmark today. Instead of birds I was able to watch an impressive thunderstorm coming up.
