It's going green! There was a lovely turquoise shade behind the arcus cloud.

Near Alps, thunderstorms coming fast...

...but also are gone fast.

It was a non-stop show tonight

Shot this during our holiday at Hévíz, Hungary. I couldn't set up my tripod properly so i missed the beginning of the storm, but I think I still managed to capture most of it.

Clicked from the hotel I stayed in!! There were lots of lighting and thunderstorms appearing over the Tiger hill part of Darjeeling!! But the best part was, it was not raining which gave me chance to click this amazing click!!

While camping at a wakeboard lake, we saw a thunderstorm crossing the horizon. No sound, no rain, no wind no direct influence. Just the thunderbolts. Impressive. July 2023

A summer thunderstorm rolls across the Little Bighorn Valley at the Custer Battlefield National Monument near Garryowen, Montana.

Didn't have to work today after all (scheduals seem to be changing almost daily, lately), so I went out shooting . . .

Incredible thunderstorms were brewing, so I had to stop on the way home somewhere I've dubbed "The Creepiest Place On Earth"--Traditions in Budaghers, New Mexico.

Traditions is along the pre-1937 alignment of Route 66. It started out as an outlet mall between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Business never really took off, so the outlet mall became "Traditions! A New Mexico Marketplace". Ideally, it was supposed to lure tourists off I-25 with promises they could get all those touristy things sold in Albuquerque's Old Town and Santa Fe's Plaza without the whooper prices.

However, Traditions also failed. Only a handful of stores remain open, and only limited hours. So what is left is a virtual ghost town, complete with sculpture gardens overgrown with weeds.

So here I was, alone in this enormous out-door mall--not a soul present otherwise; storm clouds brewing, wind howling through the "Wind Harp", and with these peculiar, futuristic "Wind Sculptures" dancing. I felt like I was in a sci-fi/horror flick!

Thank you!

The first stop on this storm chase as I am under a massive thunderstorm tidal wave. The sky was lighting up pretty good with big inter-cloud burst. This big massive storm cloud was moving very fast. At this point the lightning strikes were cloud to cloud and inter- cloud. They were starting to hit the ground further out east, the next stop on my chase. This is in NE Boulder County, Colorado, view looking north. The city lights of Berthoud are lighting up the right part of the clouds, making for some nice colors. Settings - ISO 400 - f2.8 - 11mm - 25 sec exposure.

thunderstorm over the village

Winds gusted over 50 mph with this thunderstorm (note blowing dust). Captured only one good cloud to ground lightning stroke. I received only 0.11" from this storm.

Lightning and hail

I love a good thunderstorm. I grew up with very tame storms in southwest Washington. In contrast, a storm in the Sierra is a wild, dangerous thing.

I drove over the Sierra, today, and saw one fantastic bolt of lightning and a few rain drops. I spent the night in Reno, but I heard that the Tahoe area had damaging winds and hail. As much as I love a storm, I am thankful to have missed that.

Carrickfergus Castle on a day of thunderstorms ...in April! And now we have the same weather again :-) A quick grab as we left after working on the boat - an itchy footed husband gets annoyed at my photography :-)

I was just about to fall asleep, when I noticed a lightning. I went to my bedroom's window and was able to get some shots of this cloud-to-cloud lightning.

Thunderstorm in Reus - Spain - Aug 31, 2008

Yesterday, after a day of thunderstorms, we were left with this.

It is nicer in large.
