Good Monday morning everyone and hope a great weekend was had by everyone.
Here I thought I was going to get some landing shots of this guy, but was not to be as you will see when he changed his mind in mid flight.
Thanks as always for the visit and kind words, so much appreciated.

Ever wondered what lurks through the keyhole on a Mk1 corridor connection? When we spied through we had 37714 rolling towards us. Rob's Driver Experience Day, Great Central Railway at Leicester North.
The Series Sixty-two was a model produced by Cadillac from 1940 through 1964 when it was renamed “Calais” for the 1965 model year. It was one of Cadillac’s most popular models. For the 1949 model year, the Series Sixty-two spawned the “Coupe deVille.”
For the 1953 model year the world was introduced to the very first Series Sixty-two Eldorado. The Series Sixty-two convertible was one of America’s most luxurious convertibles. Cadillac’s magnificent new design and craftsmanship were dramatically displayed in the 1957 Cadillac Series Sixty-two convertible.
Cadillac for the 1957 model year was completely redesigned. A Cadillac convertible was the celebrity among Cadillacs. There was no more gracious manner in which to enjoy open-air touring than the 1957 Series Sixty-two convertible. Its aristocratic flair was dramatic and pronounced.
Apart from the Biarritz convertible, the Series Sixty-two convertible was the most elegant convertible built in the land. It was the synthesis of two motoring worlds; it had all the panache of a ragtop and the comfort of a luxury car. Style code #6267F Series Sixty-two convertible had a base price of $5,225. (Cadillac repairs today run up tabs along these same dollar amounts…amazing)
The 1957 Cadillacs were all-new in design from the 1956 models. The 1957 cars presented a new sleekness in every line as witnessed by the Series Sixty-two convertible. They were built almost 3” lower in overall height.
The front end ensemble was boldly aggressive. It retained the “Dagmars.” The sweep of its new fender lines extended back to the redesign of the iconic Cadillac tail fins.
The convertible’s silhouette was highlighted by chrome-framed wheel openings and extended contour lines to both front and rear fenders. The fender skirts were dropped for a cleaner more contemporary look at the time.
All Cadillac bodies were built by the Fleetwood Division of Fisher Body under relentless quality control procedures. The Series Sixty-two convertible rode upon a long 129.5” wheelbase, had the luxury length of 220.9” and an 80” wide stance.
The Cadillac 6.0 litre 365 CID 16-valve V8 engine had five main bearings, intake silencer, and hydraulic lifters. It was constructed with cast iron, block and cylinder heads. The engine was equipped with a Rochester 4-bbl downdraft Quadrajet carburetor with equalized manifold, and automatic choke. It produced 300 hp @ 4,800 rpm with 542 Nm of peak torque @ 2,800 rpm. Performance was rated as 0-60 mph in 11.2 seconds, 0-100 mph in 33.1 seconds with a top speed of 119 mph. It could do the ¼ mile @ 81 mph in 18.1 seconds.
The Cadillac Series sixty-two convertible was a triumph of motoring distinction. Its unmatched comfort and spacious dignity was the finest expression of Cadillac’s dramatically new styling. In the way it looked and the way it drove, the 1957 Cadillac Series Sixty-two convertible introduced a brand new measure of excitement to modern luxury motoring…done in the manner only the “Standard of the World” could provide. This is another classic encore presentation…in the continuing saga of “As the Standard of the World Turns.”

Yesterday, I took the day to meander through the countryside for some landscape shots. Then the forecast came in with fog predicted. Limits the range of the landscapes, but I enjoy the atmosphere, anyway, so I went shooting. This is out west of the Portland area, through the rolling hills.

she walked through the passage the way people walk through churches — without looking up. the glass ceiling arched above her in panels of light, the mosaic floor unrolled beneath her feet in patterns older than anyone who walked on them. the shops on either side offered fifty percent off. she wasn’t buying. she was just passing through, the way everyone passes through, and the architecture watched her go with the patience of something that had seen a million people do exactly the same thing.

More than a year ago already I posted an imago of a romantic couple posing on the rim of the Charyn Canyon (www.flickr.com/photos/115540984@N02/49239492492/in/datepo...), a wonderful spot in the far east of Kazakhstan (and the most eastern point that I ended up during this journey, ca 100 kilometer close to the border with China).
After that shot we walked down into the canyon, along a very rough but also scenic path. We ended in this lovely oasis where the river the Charyn has carved its way through the rock formations with all those intense red and purple rocks. And where water is, arid landscapes turn green.
If you want to sleep in this place, there is a campsite and cabins to stay for the night.
20 September 2019 I came back from my journey over a part of the Silk Road to and through Central Asia. 4 months of traveling through 14 countries (Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran) before I flew home from Teheran. An impressive journey in countries that are extremely beautiful, with lovely and welcoming people and diverse cultures and history.
Intense traveling with more than 20000 kilometers in our mobile home on sometimes roads that hardly could be called that way. We saw many villages and cities (some wonderful, others very ugly), countries that are transforming from the old Soviet era into something more related to older cultures and the way people live, often funded by oil readily available around the Caspian sea. We saw the amazing mountains south of the Black Sea, the wonderful Caucasus, and the high mountains in the far east close to China with peaks over 7000 meter, and not to forget the (Bulgarian) Alps!
We crossed the great steppe of Kazakhstan. a drive of at least 5000 km, the remnants of lake Aral, once one of the biggest lakes of the world, saw a rocket launch from Baikonur (this little part is Russian owned), we crossed many high mountains passes, and drove the breathtaking canyon that comes from the Pamir, beginning at ca 4500 meter, and going down for ca. 400km to an altitude of 1300 meter, driving for 100's of kilometers along the Afghan border.
And then the numerous lakes with all sorts of different colors from deep cobalt blue to turquoise, and one rare spectacle in Turkmenistan where a gas crater is burning already for more than 40 years. And finally and certainly not the least to mention an enormous amount of wonderful, hospitable and welcoming people. The woman often dressed in wonderful dresses, and bringing a lot of color in the streets of almost of all countries we visited.

If you want an explanation, please see the following shot taken at the same time. This guy wrote up a good read, now I don't have to.
