Just going through my London shots from last year to see if I had anything else to use, I thought this photo would look good if I increase the contrast from the dark and light side, so that has been exaggerated.

Following the abrupt Oct, 2015. shutdown of Erwin, most of the through traffic was diverted to other routes.
The clinchfield still hosts 2 daily manifest trains. Q692 and Q693 along with dwindling coal loads going to Brice.
As of late, more unit ethanol and grain trains have began using the blue ridge sub. We hope the trend continues.

I live next to this abandoned housing development, sometimes I’ll head over to take photos, especially if the sky has nice clouds. I didn’t have a lot of great composition options so I just started playing around with the idea of the sunset from behind the weeds. More on the blog: goo.gl/IZEIJz

When I finished and shut down my computer the room was dark. I grabbed an empty glass to take downstairs and (the child within) had to take a look at the blue lights on the modem through the glass. Of course, the next step was to grab a nearby camera and jam it into the glass and fire off a few shots.

song: "through the backyard" by "Au Revoir Simone"
Funny that the first thing i should post from my new camera is a video and not a photo. I bought the older album of Au Revoir Simone off of itunes over the weekend and it was playing in the background while I shot this, so it seemed fitting to set the video to it.
CN 369, heavily loaded with woodchips, lumber, aluminum and other products from northern Quebec heads south through Rousseau. Head end power is three GMD units (CN 8884, CN 5765 & CN 9590) with two more units mid-train (CN 5676 & CN 2235) helping this train get to the next crew change at Garneau Yard without breaking a knuckle (a not uncommon occucrence on this up and down subdivision).
