White background shot with my Canon 30D through the viewfinder of an Argus. Vaseline smeared around the edges of the lens created the extra dirty outline.
Today, Ian and I celebrated our 32nd Wedding Anniversary So I made this collage of us through the years. We have been almost together for 34 years this November.
A York-bound Northern 158 passes the open door of Halifax signal box on its last day of operation on Friday 19th October 2018.
Halifax signal box was opened in 1884 for the L&Y as Halifax East. It worked Track Circuit Block to Milner Royd Jct in the west and Absolute Block to Bradford Mill Lane in the east, with TCB to York ROC on the line to Huddersfield.
The steep climbs up from Greetland Jct and Milner Royd Jct can be seen on the gradient profiles.
The lever frame was replaced by an IFS panel in 1969 and this last day of operation saw the line close for a week whilst Halifax and the three other manual boxes on the Calder Valley route closed - all were transferred into the York ROC.
I've been trying to get my car into this building for the longest time and finally had the chance today.
I hadn't really planned on train chasing, but Mike phoned me to say what he was doing, so I thought what the heck, I may as well do the same. A little further east, the train runs through Leslie.

Saturday, 11 January 2025: Alaska Railroad Corporation (ARRC) 09:00 Fairbanks Extra Crew heads Railroad North through the Healy Canyon. Although this train may look a little overpowered SD70MAC 4013 is most likely not proving power, as it was picked up from Oliver Siding after being set out a few days prior with issues. Behind that is one lone hopper that will be spotted on the Suntrana branch before the the crew returns to Fairbanks. Todays power was a pair of GP40-2 locomotives numbers 3002 and 3012 both built new for the railroad 1975 and 1978.

The 2013 Canadian Pacific Holiday Train.
Every year, I get a call from someone; "Hey! The Christmas Train is coming in 15min, get your ass out there!"
This was no different. I raced out the door, my daughter came with (Shes adventurous!) and I got to the best place I could think of that was close, zoom!
Ah yes! The Lincoln Street Bridge!
Run up the old platform stairs, practicaly tripping on myself, turn on camera...no, did I do that right.. turn on camera..*nothing*..NOOOOOO!!!! AIEEEE!...
Thats right, I have 3 film cameras with me that I have been testing! run down to car.. down the platform stairs, almost crashing.., (Leave the tripod.. why?)
Run back up (practically tripping on myself), then wait...nothing...15min..
Thinking Aloud:"Did that thing already go through??"
Call friend.. "Anything?" nope..
About this time, my daughter is freezing, my phone is dead, I realize that this thing left and is traveling at like 25mph.. (my daughter does the math;
She Says: "wait! thats an hour! and I left my food in the microwave cause I didnt want to miss 'the train that would be there any second"
LOL!
wait..
..wait..
Finally, we hear the horn, she says;
"How far away can you hear a horn?"
I say, "I dont know.. about 3-5miles"
"ugh"
Finally.. we see it coming around the bend!
her: Whoaaaaaa... thats cool!"
I got my film back... "YES!"

I didn't expect much for sunset yesterday, as Yosemite Valley was filled with fog and light rain... but somehow light got through and illuminated the fog, creating a pink glow all the way back to near swinging bridge, where I took this shot from.
It was nice to see the sun today after days of gloom. I haven't been out with my camera for a while and have been getting withdrawel symptoms. Taken locally through the trees in a small wooded area in a field. Although this kind of shot has been done many times (me included), I was happy with this result. Please view on black.

From a set of negatives of unknown date and origin. I guess 1930s.
Begin Mission Log:
So, we've made it onto Manaan. Those stupid bugs put up a good fight but we bested them. Their temple is quite interesting, all of those big pillars. Stupid spiritual assassins and their beliefs.
My men work the best underwater. We just seem to flow and fight the best here. This will be one of the funnest campaigns yet.
