Photographed through the trees on the shores of Loch Morlich looking to the Cairngorm mountains on a sunny winter day.
On the 28th August 2015 2-8-2T no. 99 1781-6 leaves Gohren with the P228 1449 Gohren to Binz.
This location is a ten minute walk through the woods from the station and is at one of a number of open crossings in the first couple of miles. The telegraph poles are a nice touch on this line and look very well maintained.
Sometimes one must break away and travel through the bramble they find them selves in .....Today I find myself breaking all my mother and grand mothers laws of today.....things were always done a certain way and never any other way....I have cleaned ...going to travel in a few minutes and going to be cleaning some more ......please Mom and Memaw stop turning over in your resting places ...I keep telling self its just another day and all will be okay in the end......
IORY T522 (Z865 on CSX) highballs through Columbus Grove on its way back to Lima. Both veterans units were leading.
I took this photo Sunday night, having taken only a small break from working at home all through the day. I'd had hopes of going down to the coast and shooting among the rocks at Land's End because San Francisco had some nice cloud cover (as opposed to fog or bland overcast skies).
It turns out that more of the coast is still blocked off from the oil spill than I had realized. All the beach and trail access was closed off and I kept looking for a place where I could find access. I eventually found a path and hiked downhill. The path got ever more vague on the way down but I eventually reached the beach. Since the sun was setting, the path was sketchy, and the location wasn't very nice anyways I snapped a couple lousy shots and decided to head back. I got completely lost. After about 20ft I couldn't find my trail any more no matter how hard I tried. I ended up having a rough and exhausting hike up through the brush to get back up the hillside about 25 minutes later.
So I didn't get anything close to what I'd hoped. But naturally there's always the cliché Golden Gate Bridge to shoot. Not wanting to come away from the ordeal completely empty handed I snapped a couple bridge shots. At least this was a new angle for me.
At least the bridge looked nice with the low cloud above. The sky was still blue (when you did a long exposure anyways) and the red light from the bridge was kind of cool.
I think it's been a while since I posted a new Golden Gate Bridge shot so I'm not going to feel too bad, but I do try to keep it to a minimum.

Taking night shots in Glasgow was a challenge. I was there just after the summer solstice and the sky did not become truly dark until after 11 p.m. I did manage to stay out late enough one night to capture this scene of traffic whizzing past Buchanan Street in the City Centre. This is a composite of three shots that I combined to maximize the number of traffic trails.
This park turned into a beautiful lightshow as the sun started approaching the horizon.

Photograph taken at an altitude of Five metres, in the magic of The Golden Hour around sunrise at 06:31am on Saturday 20th September 2014 off 1st Street and Beacon Avenue, standing in front of the old fish market and looking towards the Bevan Avenue Fishing Pier in beautiful Sidney by the sea on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada.
The Bevan Avenue fishing pier is one of the main focal points in this small but beautiful town where some of my family are so lucky to reside. I am never happier than when walking around and capturing the beauty and charm of this most special of locations. Work commenced on the pier in 1993 withn Phase one, a 90 metre straight section being completed in 1996. A year later the 110 metre Phase two section was completed.

Due to an ice jam in Green Island, IA damaging some wooden pilings supporting an approach to a bridge, we are seeing some detours on the CP Chicago subdivision. Just outside of Kirkland, IL this detoured 694 KCS empty sand train lead by KCS 4616 passes the famous red barns along Illinois 72.
Back in the last century, sometime in 1995, when I worked for another company we had a large project to complete in Southern Spain.
It was decided that we would take the company pool cars to reduce costs. L172 CDF was one of two. The project ran late, very late. As a consequence the cars needed servicing and new tyres (we accidentally got down the metal casing on one of them) while in Spain.
These cars were not equipped with air conditioning, only top spec models had them (or as a cost option) in those days. Southern Spain can get very hot in the summer.
Driving a right hand drive car on the opposite side took a little getting used to.
When not pressed for work duties, I took L172 CDF for an adventure...
The GR-411 is an unsurfaced road that transverses the Sierra Nevada mountain range - and one of the highest roads in Europe (which I've only just found out just over 20 years since this photo was taken).
This scanned photo was taken half way up the GR-411, I'd just driven through what I thought was mist, but was in fact the cloud layer.
L172 CDF was first registered on 23 May 1994, its last tax disc ran out on 1 December 2009. 15 years service was good going considering the service it gave under our short watch.
Its a little over 20 years since this photo was taken.
Day 365 of 365... Finally finished the Project 365. I have learned so much about Photography through this project. Thank you so much for all the challenges and willingness to push me even further.

Photo taken yesterday at Corton Beach, Suffolk with a Hitech 10 stop filter over 2 minutes. Am really pleased with the results.
This is my second photo I've done in the past couple years of a plane traveling through the path of the moon.
Mom and cub are going through the weaning process. During the 1st week they have access to the two exhibits and will travel from one side to the other. This weekend they were together on the same side more often than not. In these photos Xiao Liwu is trying to take Mom's food from her. He did not succeed.
