In her 107th year, the Great Lakes Towing Co. tug 'Ohio' ,plows through ice & snow as she works to keep the Inbound and Outbound Shipping Channels on Sandusky Bay open along the shores of Lake Erie in Sandusky, Ohio.
With a length of 106.2 ft and a displacement of 194.0 gross tons she has seen quite a share of winter's work.
Now in her 107th Year, having been built in 1903 as M.F.D.S. NO. 15 for the City of Milwaukee (Fire Dept.) she served as a fireboat until 1948.
Accquired by the Great Lakes Towing Co. in 1953 and rebuilt in 1954, she was renamed 'Ohio' in 1973. An earlier 'Ohio' had been scrapped after being crushed against a concrete dock at Buffalo, NY, in November, 1954, by the 'S.S. W.F. WHITE'.

Both on my way to San Francisco AND on the way back home, I was treated to fantastic light shows in this one particular spot on California's I-505.
The light morphed and danced for more than a half an hour. I finally had to pull myself back into the car and merge back into the 70+ MPH traffic flow.
On October 8, 2005, Illinois & Midland's southbound Sicilly Turn clumps through the switch at Brickyard Junction on Springfield's south side. Brickyard Jct. was built by the ICG after the IC/GMO merger to connect the IC's St. Louis District and the GM&O's Chicago to St. Louis line which eliminated some time consuming back up moves for large freight trains from tower to tower throughout Springfield proper. The IMRR is using the ancient trackage rights agreement from CIMIC to Avenue tower dating back to 1926 when the C&IM purchased the CP&STL mainline north of Springfield. Today, RS1325 31 leads SD18s 60/61 as the Sicily Turn hauls several loaded hoppers of burnt coal slag to the Reed Mineral roofing shingle plant at Sicily. Just before the sale of the C&IM to GWI in February 1996, a contract was secured with CWE to move the slag from the Powerton Generating Station south of Pekin to the Reed facility. the reason was due to the lack of usable slag granules produced at the Kincaid Generating Station after the switch to cleaner burning Utah coal in 1994. I have decided to develop the project “Through the light” to show how is living in Palermo. The city despite the diverse mixture of cultures has retained most of its original identity. Art and history are some important elements of daily palermitan life. Walking in the evening in our historical centre, which is the heart of the city, you can see many areas that are colored by typical corner markets such as Ballarò, il Capo and Vucciria that represent the ancient city’s pulsating core, tied to the scents and traditions of this city. Past and present exist together and give a unique scenery in many interesting places. I tried to “open a window” on some degraded areas to redeem the image of a city, which needs to look for a way back into the sun.

And thank goodness for the auto 10x in the viewfinder when you hit the focus ring on the α7ʀ4 (in MF mode), so you don't have to rely on the monkey in the chip (CPU/chip monkey) to decide what to focus on.
Monkey's may be smarter than rodents,
but I'm still not gonna relay on them to make a good decision.
An autumnal sunset through and beyond the trees. This was viewed from San Jose, CA. Felt like winter was really on the way. It was a bit cool this day with temps reaching into the lower 60's only. Temps had dipped into the 40's coming evening, thanks to crystal clear, starry skies and little to no wind. (Sunday around sunset, November 24, 2013; 4:32 p.m.)
After quite a foggy start to the afternoon it was nice to see the sunlight falling through the clouds!

It was almost too early for a shot at the Hole in the Wall, but I took it anyway. There's sunlight on the trucks! The MYCPB travels through the Hole in the Wall and heads for Dupo before planning to continue on. Air problems would lead to them gumming up the yard most of the day instead. East St Louis, IL.
5619 has just passed through the site of Castor Station on the Nene Valley Railway with the second trip to Peterborough of the day.
A BNSF ballast train heads west at Kentucky Street, passing two empty BNSF coal trains and the UP MSFNL, a mixed freight from Sheffield, Alabama, to North Little Rock, Arkansas. The UP train will head west after sunset.
After passing through Toorwaterpoort to get through the Swartberg Mountains behind the line from Oudtshoorn to Klipplaat emerges at Vondeling station in the Great Karoo. The oasis around the station is typical of the region, the only thing missing from this photograph is a windmill. Class 19D no 2753 completes the scene on 2 June 1993.
Severe Weather "Level 1" service train 6930 slows for Madison, just after 4pm, during the latest Nor'Easter in New Jersey. Throughout the rest of the afternoon and evening, about 2-4 more inches of snow would fall, which saw NJT shut down it's bus routes. The MidTOWN Directs would continue to operate throughout the day, as 4517 was on a rotation with three other sets operating on the M&E.
