We have had small groups of pelicans coming through our part of the Elk River on migration! The pelican scouts came about 3 weeks ago and now, groups are passing through! Amazing to see! Feels like a good omen!

May not be the most creative shot for the theme, but decided to an outdoor shot, as the day was so beautiful!

I wasn't prepared for this shot at all, the clouds didn't cooperate. When the sun poked through a tiny gap in the clouds, I had a very short time to capture it. Best I could do. 3 seconds after I hit the shutter, the sun was gone.

While it's not perfect, In the end, I kinda like the drama!

Begin Mission Log:

So, we've made it onto Manaan. Those stupid bugs put up a good fight but we bested them. Their temple is quite interesting, all of those big pillars. Stupid spiritual assassins and their beliefs.

My men work the best underwater. We just seem to flow and fight the best here. This will be one of the funnest campaigns yet.

Every year, I get a call from someone; "Hey! The Christmas Train is coming in 15min, get your ass out there!"

This was no different. I raced out the door, my daughter came with (Shes adventurous!) and I got to the best place I could think of that was close, zoom!

Ah yes! The Lincoln Street Bridge!

Run up the old platform stairs, practicaly tripping on myself, turn on camera...no, did I do that right.. turn on camera..*nothing*..NOOOOOO!!!! AIEEEE!...

Thats right, I have 3 film cameras with me that I have been testing! run down to car.. down the platform stairs, almost crashing.., (Leave the tripod.. why?)

Run back up (practically tripping on myself), then wait...nothing...15min..

Thinking Aloud:"Did that thing already go through??"

Call friend.. "Anything?" nope..

About this time, my daughter is freezing, my phone is dead, I realize that this thing left and is traveling at like 25mph.. (my daughter does the math;

She Says: "wait! thats an hour! and I left my food in the microwave cause I didnt want to miss 'the train that would be there any second"

LOL!

wait..

Finally, we hear the horn, she says;

"How far away can you hear a horn?"

I say, "I dont know.. about 3-5miles"

"ugh"

Finally.. we see it coming around the bend!

her: Whoaaaaaa... thats cool!"

Just west of Rollins, an eastbound BNSF oil train approaches a clear (green) signal at the west switch of Rollins. The train passes the Winter Park Express at Fraser and had enough time to make it through the Moffat ahead of the Winter Park Express.

I have been looking for poppies fields for the last few weeks along with most landscape photographers I would imagine, caught sight of these in the distance after a long walk on the downs. Manged to work out the best way to get there so with the alarm set at 3.15 off I went.

One can only imagine what goes through their minds ? Here this large westerner has signaled if it was O.K to take a picture . At 6'3 and 240 I turn a few heads in Asia , I could only try to imagine what this little guy was thinking .
