Blue Mountains

(das musste jetzt sein)

from Wikipedia:

The Three Sisters are a rock formation in the Blue Mountains of New South Wales, Australia, on the north escarpment of the Jamison Valley. They are close to the town of Katoomba and are one of the Blue Mountains' best known sites, towering above the Jamison Valley. Their names are Meehni (922 m), Wimlah (918 m), and Gunnedoo (906 m).

I don't know what it is with Three Shires Head but I've never been able to get a result I was happy with, in any conditions. And I'm still not.

Mind you it's not easy. If you aren't mowed down by ten cross country motorbikers that come haring up the path spitting two stroke oil and exhaust and ripping the peace and quiet up as if with fifty high revving petrol chainsaws, then it's like today, the place filled with women and baying hounds. One I can stand, but as for all the others..... And then there are the walkers who decide to plonk themselves down right in the middle of your shot and dig into their sarnies and coffee flask. You might think you can find tranquility here on the corner of three counties, but my eyes were widened as four more women tramped down the gulley side carrying large 'shopping' bags. Wow, that must be some picnic they've come to enjoy, but there???!! It was a really chilly wind blowing up that way. And yet rather than tucking into some baguettes and cake they all undressed and jumped into the pool below one of the waterfalls. Blimey!

Underwater scenery in Three Sisters Springs, Crystal River, Florida, United States

After a cold night sat on the cliffs above the bay, watching the stars and meteors, we started to move down to the beach as dawn approached. The Milky Way was starting to fade as the dawn light strengthened but we had had a fabulous night under the stars

The three churches in Mahone Bay are iconic, I was hoping to have a nice sunrise but unfortunately it was a bust.

It's hard to get three together- shortly after getting in a couple of shots the top one chased the right hand one away. Curiously, whenever I get a good look at their red patch, they always seem to be females at the minute. Acorn Woodpeckers, Mt. Shasta, California

Some final testing shots I like before I start.

Not actually mountains in their own right, the sisters are the buttress ends of three ridges that extend out from the summit of Bidean nam Bian a mountain on the south side of Glencoe. Nearest to the camera is Beinn Fhada, then Gearr Aonach and finally, the most westerly Aonach Dubh.

When you're waiting for a train to photograph, you start looking for other things. I know a guy who got into nature photography because he would stand in the weeds waiting for a train and decided to start photographing the stuff he was standing in.

Anyway, I noticed these three stacks in the roof of the Geneva Metra station. And I have this "rule of odds" project. Sooooo.

There might be a train photograph or two coming. Someday.
