So this weeks challenge was "cliché" which once again got me thinking... I began to wonder that since 99% of the landscapes I shoot have been shot many many times before is everything I do a cliché? Should i just give up now while i'm behind? Is the fact that many of my images are clichés necessarily a bad thing? - if a cliché is a cliché is it not so because it is worth repeated shooting?

Anyone who know Ireland will know this location, and probably will recognize this exact composition (using the three stones as a leading line to the head of the valley) I've shot it myself many times in the past. when we visited here with my camera club last week we were literally jokingly queuing up to shoot here...

So i guess this makes it a good contender for this weeks theme of cliché...

- that and the use of reflections, rule of thirds & symmetry...

Still all that aside its a great spot - probably why its such a cliché!

three for macro Monday

As I drove to Canmore on Sunday morning, I was pretty sure the day was going to be a wash. It was overcast and snowing almost all the way to Canmore and I almost turned around and went back home. But then I figured even a bad day in Canmore is still a pretty good day. The Three Sisters are always gorgeous too!

We had pancakes for lunch today! I smoothed my with Maple Syrup!

I set my camera up on a tripod, then started shooting with the interval timer. I blended in the images of the further skaters in PS. The skaters are all me. I had a Cokin 2-stop soft ND grad filter
