This is the back of my first attempt at machine quilting. I didn't really know what I was doing and of course didn't practice on anything, just straight into my quilt... I didn't know how to start & stop. How do the ladies who are legends at quilting do this???? I'd love some tips. I googled it but found lots of different things... I tied little knots and then buried the threads.
This is the same pattern as the beachy Tee dress I knit earlier, with smaller needles and thinner thread (00 rather than 0 and perle 8 rather than #10).
I've added short rows for the bust, which you can see in the stripe pattern if you look under the arm. I have finished the bust decreases so now it's just the slog to the waist and hip increases to go.
I have three of these things stuffed full of embroidery thread back from the days when I cross-stitched. Which would probably be sometime in the mid-90's. It's all ready for me to break out and use again. Although why I didn't just break it out to embroidery with is beyond me. Anyhow, it's great having all of this thread for stitching! i always have thread on me, somewhere, and everyone always points it out.
ive always been the messy disorganised girl at school, and it changes nothing.
Luck means i get away with everything by the skin of my teeth, even carrying my family's ball and chain.
Lots of tiny spools of thread, misc sewing necessities, two books I've finished reading, my planner and ibuds are tucked away in this corner.
I love love love the 9 new Kreinik metallic thread colors. They have just a touch of 'pearl' in them - when you stitch with them they look like candy. Doug Kreinik said he was inspired by German and Polish glass when he came up with the colors. They are really fun to stitch with and have a subtle shimmer.
