These are #thread #spool tags - these were on the wall of a silk and thread factory which shut down many years ago. I gained access to the old #factory from a #workshop I went to earlier this year.

The quilting is completed and I need to bury all the thread ends by tying them together and then threading them between the layers of the quilt.

At least in sewing anyway. The large one is a 16oz. spool of #69 Bonded Nylon thread in Sage Green, which averages about 6,000 yards in length.

 

The little baby one is a spool of Mettler Polyester Thread, which is about 220 yards in length and half the size of #69 thread in thickness.

I found this little bunch of thread (along with some rick rack and bias tape) at Goodwill for $1. I love how colorful it all is together!

Using this for Inkle bands

Start at the far right of left side of your project. You may want to measure and mark you rigid heddle loom with a 0 in the center of the heddle and mark each inch to the left and right of the zero. If you project is 10" in the heddle, start at the 5" mark on the right or left.

With the threading hook in your right or left hand, pull one set of threads (looks like a loop) through at a time. You are placing the threads in each slot of the loom.

After our viewing the archaeological sites of Moray, our driver stopped in the small town of Chincero on that same high elevation plateau (11,000’ plus) next to what was an obvious tourist stop giving a demonstration of yarn dyeing/weaving. Christmas packaged decorated with thread spool Christmas tree. Spools have scrapbook paper decoupaged onto them. They are held together end to end with wood glue. The sections are secured to the box lid with twine through small holes in the lid.

I'm making these for favors for a Mother's Day Tea at an assisted living center. 10 down/50 to go!
