i crocheted these shawls out of quilting thread a couple of years ago and then never got around to blocking them or listing them till a customer asked about them recently, so i pulled them out to take pictures. i'd forgotten just how many i made! i'll be blocking them all this weekend and then listing them on etsy soon. if you are interested in any before that my email addy is in my profile.
Stripped the thread on my fixed hub. Cheap hubs so not entirely unexpected but annoying still. Cog was fine and flipped it over to the other side.
Barbour Threads was our first explore after crossing into ireland. We only saw a small part this time but it was excellent all the same!
The train wires have always scared me a bit. I had this image of them being arms and coming to get me as a child. But now I love them. They're peaceful and steady, and they lead me to places I've never been to, in my favorite way of transportation: the train.
When I saw this chart going around in Pinterest www.pinterest.com/pin/14777505002477805/ I knew that I had to give it a go! Very easy! Here is what I did: I used crochet thread Nazli Gerlin Garden 10 in lavender and a size 6 hook. Starting with the waistband, I hooked until the size I needed for my nieces waist, making sure the count was close to the ruffle pattern base row (11dc's, skip 3 ch5) and then slst together into a circle. Now continue on with the band, folding down for the ribbon tie/elastic if wanted. For the skirt base I did row after row of dc's, using 6 rows of dc's for 1 row of ruffle as my measurement. Then once the base was done, I went back to the top of my waistband and began the rows of ruffles. Making sure to hook on the front post of the rows of dc, and alternating the ruffles so they wouldn't all line up the same! Clip all the loose ends & insert the ribbon tie and done!

Thread Magic: The Enchanted World of Ellen Anne Eddy
Ellen Anne Eddy is an internationally known fiber artist whose wall art goes beyond the traditional concept of quilting. Fish, bugs, birds, and frogs are found throughout her art, blending her dreams and vision with the natural world. She uses hand-dyed fabrics, lames, machine embroidery, cut-away applique, and layered sheers to create the illusion of flames, water, and mist in her work. The chapters guide the reader step-by-step with everything from "Looking at Quilts" to "Rehabilitating Troubled Quilts." The gallery of quilts features both full images and detail shots. The photographs are bright and colorful, the illustrations clear and helpful. Ellen's quilts are divided into several series and themes, with each section offering her inspiration for that theme. It is Ellen's hope that by sharing her journey as an artist she can inspire her readers in their artistic journey.
Hand-dyed fabrics, layered sheers, and machine embroidery are spotlighted in these extraordinary quilts featuring birds, animals, and insects. Includes a step-by-step technical section.

Followed these guys (Threads), around with my camera all day. Was meant to be helping them out by doing some filming but photos did a happen. Granted I did some filming but I was more interested in getting some shots. First ever photos i've done like this, i'd say I did ok considering!
I bought this peg board stand from gateway (like a goodwill) for $10.00. I then purchased the hooks off ebay. It is double sided. I love that is on wheels and movable. I do keep a vinyl cover when not in use to keep dust off of thread.

Inside. I had these tiny scissors from Spiced Coffee- they'll have to hang out in here until I can find some folding ones.
Made with this cute tute- www.sewmamasew.com/2011/01/travel-sewing-case-tutorial/ I made it a bit bigger and with 2 elastics to hold it closed, but otherwise I followed the tute.
We are passionate about thread. Thread has become a specialized instrument for creativity and stitch express. It can play a supporting, technical role or be the star of the show. Check out the chart on page 9 of the book Threads – The Basics and Beyond.
