Whee, the perle cotton thread I ordered arrived! It's skinny stuff- it's size 8 or #20 US size, with a suggested hook of 1.25mm- but looks about right for recreating the vintage potholders I have.

40m each x 60 balls = lots of happy crochet time.

The thread took 2 weeks to get here. Not bad from Paraguay!

by axmodent, we ended up taking a tour around & through the Vaughan intermodal facility, a science-fiction-like expanse of several square miles of labyrinthine trackage with monster cranes mounted on tracks to move containers around. should've been bolder with the camera in here: this is all i got of this industrial wonderland.

Facial Threading - The Ancient Art of Beauty.

almost used up while sewing the lava blocks

Starting weaving again after "painting" the warp with the "slime" from boiled linen seeds. That helps a lot, and the threads do not brake. But still need to repair the many knots in the warp.

The thread is Knit-Cro-Sheen, shaded flamingoes, size 10. Crocheted with a Boye size 6 hook.

This facsimile of the embroidery work as seen from the back of the cover is one example of why I'm not yet ready to give up on printed books. You have to be able to touch this--it looks almost real--and it adds a wonderful dimension to the cover.

This is another macro shot using a reversed lens for the magnification. The camera was mounted on a tripod with the screw in front balanced on its head. Shot it with a 100-300mm lens at 100mm and my 50mm f/1.8 in front. The photo was shot with available light.

It's me versus the machine. I started sewing classes yesterday. Something I've always wanted to do. My mom was a Home economics teacher, but passed away when I was 12, so I never knew more than the basics. My sweet husband got me a sewing/embroidery machine for my birthday. I hope it's going to give me a little chance to be creative.
