Andrew has such a flair for the period vehicles! This ambulance just looks awesome! I brought the windscreen tho...... haha!
All bricked up. Yet he still smiles? Henry needs a new face (these are the printed ones from last year, which I don't like as much).
Can't remember the name of the episode, but the suit of armour the engines get in a tizzy about and deliver to the castle. Couldn't resist!
Trains from The Reverend's own train set. In the middle is Peter Sam. He has a funny shaped funnel as his was knocked off by an icicle in a tunnel. The funny shaped Geisl injector replacement funnel provided him with more power, and his friends stopped laughing at him.
Originally a slate line, carrying the slate from the quarries 7 miles away, the Talyllyn railway closed in the early 1950's, reopening 18 months later as a preserved line.
I have a number of favourite authors of children's books. As well as Dr. Seuss, I think that the Reverend W. Awdry is one of my favourites - author of the Thomas the Tank Engine stories which I loved as a kid, and now my own kids love them too. I met him once, on a balmy summer evening as an eight year old boy. He signed one of his books, his looping black handwriting the same colour as the long black cassock he was wearing, his long straggly hair white like the clerical that he wore round his neck. Today the book is lost, which is a shame. I visited the Talyllyn Railway in Tywyn, Wales lots of times as a kid, and as I pitched my tent last week near here, the train whistles reminded me of this place. I thought I should go and have a look.
The Rev had worked here as a volunteer and a guard back in the 1950's when the Talyllyn railway became the first railway in the world to be "rescued" after it had closed. He based lots of his stories on ones that actually happened.
Thomas comes to the Rescue the Illinois Railway Museum and saves the year! The future is in our kids. Thomas is coming back this August 2013 to be with his friends !
We met the REAL Thomas train at the Nene Valley Railway :-)
The Nene Valley Railway has bigger and more impressive steam engines, but it is also the home of 'Thomas'. Thomas was sick this weekend (Hes got a tummy ache) but we went to see him on platform 1. And rode on another steam engine.
RD7007. 0-6-0T No. 1 THOMAS quietly simmers at Ropley station with ‘Toad’ the brakevan; they were running shuttle trips to a nearby siding. Can anybody tell me what the Mid-Hants ‘Thomas’ was before becoming Thomas?

Thomas the Tank Engine leaves the depot at Union, Illinois with a train full of passengers.
I volunteered on the weekend that Thomas was at Illinois Railway Museum, selling ice cream, pop, and water. I also flagged the crossing for the trolly stop. It was a fun weekend. My buddy Dave Hawley (extra156west) helped me volunteer.

Thomas comes to the Rescue the Illinois Railway Museum and saves the year! The Burlington Route restored diesel switcher did all the work on Thomas train
The Strasburg Rail Road's Thomas the Tank Engine stomps through the fields of Cherry Crest Farm in the town of Ronks, PA, as she hauls a 9-car, "Day out with Thomas" excursion westbound toward East Strasburg, with a load of happy kids on board. The former Brooklyn Eastern District Terminal Locomotive #15 has been so heavily modified for its role as the lead character in the series "Thomas and Friends" that it is nearly unrecognizable as its former self. Just about the only remaining vestige of the original locomotive is the running gear, albeit in baby blue paint.
Percy had worked his branch line for many years, and knew all the routes.
"You know just where to stop, Thomas," laughed his driver. "You could almost manage it without me!"
Although he enjoyed his senior status, Percy had become bored with his journeys and longed for excitement. He wished something would happen to remind him that life was for living. After hauling the milk float up a steep hill, a giant pair of sosij legs appeared from nowhere and straddled the tunnel Percy was just coming out of. He looked up and just over the top of his erect funnel Percy caught glimpse of a massive naked woman, high above him, Percy only knew one way to impress, so as she looked down, he fired up his engine, concentrated and drove expertly to the station. Sir Topham Hat (normally not missing a trick) was unaware of the incident, it was 16.40 hrs and he had noted a family returning from their day trip away from the isle of Sodor. He remembered that morning how they had opted for the 'Family Travelcard'. This meant they should have returned before the evening peak, he desperately wanted to challenge and fine them, but his thighs had rubbed a hole in his work-issue trousers that afternoon - so he just stood motionless, feet together, as they crossed the barrier and left his station.
